Civil Peace Monitoring Officer

This is a part-time position for 4 hours per day (5 days a week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify and analyze information of interest from different sources (social media, TV, radio, press releases, etc.)
  • Stay up to date with the latest current events in the beat by following news, attending events, interviewing individuals, etc. 
  • Provide the defined stakeholders with the necessary verified data to formulate a proper understanding of the situation in Lebanon by sending daily briefs (weekend news can be reported on Mondays) 
  • Organize and assemble findings into a tailored results-based report (in Arabic) to be distributed to defined stakeholders. The report will be issued on a weekly basis, every Monday
  • Edit the developed reports to cater for specific requirements 
  • Establish and Update the monitoring methodology, design and structure the data collection and analysis process
  • Attend meetings to analyze the collected data with the team

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Journalism and/or Political Science, or International Affairs
  • Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution is a plus 
  • Studies in Sociology or relevant fields is a plus

Experience

  • Proven track record in media/news monitoring and reporting  
  • Strong experience in content analysis 
  • Knowledge of the Lebanese environment, context and conflicts
  • Understanding of the nuances within the Lebanese political environment 
  • Very good knowledge of the Lebanese Media Scene 
  • Strong knowledge of digital platforms for Data Consolidation and Analysis
