Audio Visual producer / Digital Designer

PURPOSE

We are looking for a creative, out-of-the-box thinker to support the ICRC's public and digital communication work by producing and promoting audiovisual material for broadcasters and digital content (web videos, photography, design etc.). S/he advises on the best methods (including use of news footage and social videos) to support key campaigns and initiatives, providing training and strategic guidance to delegations. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, be audience-oriented in their thinking and have a creative mind for innovative stories and original design.

 

CONTEXT

The AV Producer/Digital Designer drives and enables the ICRC's efforts to visually connect with relevant audiences through digital content (video, graphic design, illustration, print publication) in English and Arabic for social media, the institutional website, and third-party platforms. The AV Producer/Digital Designer will also contribute to crafting ICRC Lebanon’s public facing identity in collaboration with the Digital Officer and the Spokesperson. In cooperation with the operational communication officer, he or she supports the creation of tools and products to increase knowledge and awareness of ICRC services among communities.

 

Certification/Education Required

-University degree in visual communication, graphic design, multimedia, or similar.

-Fluent command of English and Arabic; other languages an asset.

Professional Experience Required

-4 or more years of work in a similar field.

-Good content visualization and storytelling skills.

-Good knowledge of specialized software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects is a plus).

-Photography and videography skills.

-Good relationships with agencies and production houses an asset.

-Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English

-Good communication and writing/editing skills

-Good interview and storytelling skills

-Capacity to analyze the political and social environment

 

RELATIONSHIPS

​-Internally, interacts with the Digital Communication Officer, Public Relations Officer, operational communication officer, operations for the different regions and communication staff in the field.

-Externally, interacts with audio-visual producers, designers and animators.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Responsibilities:

-In collaboration with the communication team, plans, produces AV content (from the concept stage to the final product, including commissioning content, carrying out film missions, scriptwriting and designing).

-Provides key input into communication strategies, shaping concepts to ensure products successfully reach the intended audiences.

-Develops and maintains a network of external contacts with agencies and creative professionals, manages external audio-visual suppliers, including writing contracts and handling related budgets.

-Supports and coaches communication staff in audio-visual techniques and ensures that audio-visual information-management procedures are defined and respected.

-Keeps abreast of technological developments with specific expertise on audio-visual-related hardware.

-Is responsible for purchasing, maintaining and upgrading of materials and equipment, and keep the AV studio in good shape.

-Contributes to analysing content trends, new media and technical innovations and informs the relevant ICRC hierarchy and other colleagues concerned.

-Plans and ensures proper sharing, storage and final archiving of audio-visual materials in coordination with relevant headquarters units (MediaHub).
 
Content Planning and Production (in close cooperation with DIGITAL and PR):

-Under the supervision of the Communication Manager and in collaboration with the Digital Officer, leads the development and creation of visual communication products.

-Supports the efforts of the ICRC LEBANON in planning and organizing the ongoing effort to create, edit, repurpose and deliver a wide variety of engaging visual content for digital channels, targeting a variety of key audiences, including the general public.

-Contributes to the editorial planning and lead the process of generating a broad variety of visual content for digital platforms managed by the ICRC LEBANON.

-Supports the efforts of the ICRC LEBANON in planning and promoting content. Propose strategies to maximise the exposure and impact of the ICRC’s digital content.

-Contributes to ICRC LEBANON campaigns by taking the lead on the visualization aspect and making sure that all products are aligned with the ICRC visual identity.

-Maintains regular contact with and generate visual digital content with regional and Geneva based PR/DIGITAL, as well as communication departments of Middle Eastern and Arabic-speaking delegations in Africa.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

-Internal communication & reporting (supporting role)

-Contributes to the institutional reporting (WOR, PfR, etc.) of the Communication department; contributes to specific reports upon request

-Contributes to effective internal communication within the delegation, as well as between the delegation and HQ / CSC Cairo / other delegations

-Contributes to the well-functioning and sharing of information among the communication department; coordinates with all colleagues concerned

-Ensures a proper filing of all documents of relevance to the delegation / institution

-Writes minutes of workshops and meetings when needed
 
-Staff training and recruitment (supporting role)

-Identifies needs for coaching/training of ICRC staff in relation to audiovisual production

-Assists, when required, the Communication Coordinator, in the recruitment of communication staff.
 
Other tasks

-Attends meetings and represents the ICRC upon request

-Knows, applies and complies with all administrative procedures linked to the position

 

The employee may be asked to perform professional duties and tasks not covered in this job description as to provide support to other departments when necessary.
