Field Supervisor (4 Vacancies)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

  • Support the Project Manager and MNCAH team in planning and implementing project activities to meet project deliverables based on timeline and scope agreed with the donor;
  • Participate in team planning and coordination meetings and trainings;
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts to document project outputs, outcomes, and impact to inform donor and other internal reporting;
  • Assist in filing and record keeping of project activities;
  • Prepare weekly reports to be submitted to the Project Manager. Contribute to quarterly reports and other reports to meet donor and internal requirements;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Al Midan and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
  • Giving the necessary supervision, care and advise to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period;
  • Following WHO guidelines for antenatal care, as well as other relevant guidelines and Lebanese regulations;
  • Recognizing and managing complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care;
  • Referring high risks pregnancies to the nearest PHC centers and hospitals for specialized care, laboratory investigations and ultrasounds;
  • Providing information of supported hospitals for delivery in order to make delivery plan by the pregnant mothers;
  • Conducting awareness sessions for pregnant and lactating women in the camp, including how to deliver daily care for the baby, breast feeding, bathing, family planning, etc. 
  • Arranging and providing parenting and health education for the woman, her partner and family if needed;
  • Coordinating specific educational or outreach programs related to reproductive health.
  • Participate in the preparation of the awareness sessions and any other campaign;
  • Build relationships with, reassuring, listening, and talking to patients. As well as combating stigma and helping patients and their families deal with it.
  • Giving advice and arranging support for patients, relatives and liaising with doctors, social workers, and other professionals;
  • Ensure a relevant transfer of information to line manager;
  • Provide education and trainings to staff about topics regarding health; hygiene; treatment and well-being;
  • Attend training, seminars, workshops, and classes to achieve required credentials and continuing education as required by the head of center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the centers’ managers.

COORDINATION AND REPRESENTATION

  • Liaise with local officials including municipalities, project partners, key community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure successful deliverables;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships and coordinate with relevant stakeholders in the Health and Child protection sector;
  • Work with NGO partners in liaising with key community stakeholders to build the program’s acceptance within local communities to facilitate program implementation;
  • Represent Al Midan at local coordination meetings, where relevant.
  • Build relationships with local communities and municipalities to introduce the project and facilitate access to information related to project activities and scope. Arrange for meetings with local entities and authorities, as requested;

Al Midan team members are expected to support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

 OTHERS

  • Ensure all activities are gender sensitive and follow Al Midan Gender Equity Policy;
  • Apply Do No Harm standards to ensure activities do not have detrimental effects on vulnerable communities;
  • Participate in internal office coordination and planning meetings and workshops;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

 WORKS DIRECTLY WITH:  OPERATIONS, FINANCE, FIELD COORDINATORS, and M&E.

 EDUCATION

BA/S or equivalent in nursing, midwifery, or social science.

 KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least two years of progressive experience and proven competence in working in Health and Prevention and/or community-based intervention;
  • Experience working with local communities;
  • Proven track record in staff and stakeholder training and capacity building;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Positive, respectful attitude, and collaborative approach to problem solving;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently, as well as cooperatively with team members;
  • Strong communication, coordination, and networking skills; experience developing and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  • Strong understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and ability to work with refugee and host community populations;
  • Ability and interest to work with a multi-ethnic team in a culturally appropriate manner;
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of the current political, economic, cultural and historical context of Lebanon preferred;
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to the field;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic (Arabic is strongly required).
