In partnership with UNICEF, AND is operating safe spaces in Akkar (static and mobile) for women and adolescent girls. These spaces provide holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations Syrian and Lebanese, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma. AND is seeking a trainer with a strong background on handcrafts.
These services include skills building trainings for women and girls on several, diverse topics including handmade quilt making. Thus, the need for a handmade quilt professional trainer. The trainer is required to coordinate with the project manager to combine the needs of the trainees with the training curriculum and material in accordance with protection priorities determined for the women and children.
AND is seeking the expertise of a quilt making expert to train beneficiaries on handmade quilts making over 12 hours workshop spread according to the trainer’s and participants’ convenience. Training should cover the following:
- Introduce participants to the materials and equipment needed for handmade quilts making
- The different patterns (the block quilt, fast four patches...)
- How to make patchwork
- How to make quilts using a primary sewing machine.
- Types of fabrics.
- Ironing methods and storing options
The trainer shall demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge about handmade quilts, materials, design, different fabrics...
- Lead and supervise the quilt making process for quality assurance purposes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be personable and diplomatic in working with a diverse range of people.
- Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity and patience.
- Ability to demonstrate, and communicate techniques clearly.
The Trainer shall be responsible for the following deliverables.
- Develop the training syllabus and timetable.
- Prepare a list of needed equipment with detailed specifications.
- Prepare a comprehensive training package material used throughout the workshop (Power point presentations, videos, forms, exercises).
- Provide a detailed brief on the progress of the session, best practices and recommendations for follow up training.
The trainer shall provide the vocational training workshops to a group of 10 women in Akkar.
Learning shall be provided in cycles. A training cycle of 12 hours divided by 4 days.
Training locations: in the safe space Miniara –Hrar and SDC Hissa – Akkar.
