In partnership with UNICEF, AND is operating safe spaces in Akkar (static and mobile) for women and adolescent girls. These spaces provide holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations Syrian and Lebanese, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma. AND is seeking an Embroidery trainer with a background on different kinds of embroidery fabric and patterns.
These services include skills building trainings for women and girls on several, diverse topics. The trainer is required to coordinate with the project manager to combine the needs of the trainees with the training curriculum and material in accordance with the identified protection priorities for the women and children.
Areas of Responsibility: skills building (Embroidery on the hook with hand crafts)
The main task to be completed by the trainer shall be:
- to be creative
- an eye for color, texture and pattern
- the ability to visualize things in three dimensions
- the different kinds of embroidery fabric and why you might want to choose some over others.
- handmade creations ( hoops, bags, masks, crochet madding etc..)
- good communication skills to explain the ideas clearly and persuasively
- the ability to meet deadlines
- to keep ahead of trends in color, fabric and style strong organizational skills
- At the end of the training the trainees shall be able to identify all embroidery tips, pattern and stitches including but not limited to:
- Different stitches, embroidery of flowers, letters, appliqué…
- Embroidery Hoop with Felt
- How to tie knots in the end of embroidery floss with a quilter’s knots
- Start Embroidery without Knots
- Backing for Embroidery
The trainer shall provide the training workshops to a group of 10 women in Akkar.
Learning shall be provided in cycles. A training cycle of 12 hours divided by 4 days.
Training locations: in the safe space Miniara –Hrar and SDC Hissa – Akkar.
Deliverables
The provider of services shall be responsible for the following deliverables.
- Training Cycle Syllabus and timetable
- Training Curriculum
- Final Appraisal at the end of the training cycle.
Level of Effort
The Trainer shall have the following number of days allocated for this task:
