English Instructor

AND will be participating in components 1 and 3 of the Shabake project as a recipient of capacity building support services in addition to integration into the aid ecosystem in Lebanon. It will contribute to the realization of the component 1 and 3 objectives through active participation in the design and implementation of both component activities, and it will also be designing and leading on the implementation of a Vulnerability Reduction Project (VRP).

Areas of Responsibility:

AND is seeking an English Instructor to provide English courses over 60 hours workshop spread according to the trainers’ and participants’ convenience.

The main responsibility of the English Instructor is to help the beneficiaries understand English, speak it and be able to write and read it. Duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. More specifically the English language tutor will be in charge of the following:

• Developing English lesson plans in line with the national curriculum.
• Organizing and delivering classroom lectures to beneficiaries.
• Evaluating the beneficiaries' class work and assignments.
• Preparing classroom in creative manners and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Recording and maintaining accurate beneficiaries’ attendance records and grades.
• Creating a vibrant teaching atmosphere.

Required Skills:

• Communication Skills: You must be able to speak clearly to trainees.
• Instruction Skills: You will have to explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority and concisely so that trainees can understand. You must work to keep the trainees' attention
• Writing Skills: Teachers write progress reports, notes…
• Patience: The trainees have different backgrounds and abilities. Patience will help teachers deal with trainees who act out or have trouble following the material.
• Creativity: Teachers have to find ways to involve trainees into their lessons. Additionally, teachers may have to work with different learning styles to get the most out of each trainee.
• People Skills: Engaging community and creating healthy relationships with trainees will help create a quality learning environment.

The trainer shall provide English language workshops to a mixed group of participants in Akkar.

Learning shall be provided in 2 cycles divided as follows: 30 hours/cycle.

Deliverables
The Instructor shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

• Training Syllabus and timeframe/schedule
• Training Curriculum 
• Final Appraisal at the end of the teaching cycle.
