About “Partners for Justice” project

Partners for Justice is a project that is being implemented by Search in partnership with Resource Centre for Gender Equality (ABAAD). The project’s overall objective is to help reduceeduce violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Lebanon through 1) engaging men and boys to work positively with women and girls to become allies and champions of gender equality and prevention of VAWG, and 2) promoting a shift in communities’ attitudes in target areas around the permissibility of, and assumptions related to VAWG. The project is being implemented in five different locations including South Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Beqaa and North Lebanon. The project engages media professionals and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) through their youth representatives. The youth responsibilities  were  enrolled in several trainings, capacity building workshops and research in order to  create and design a media campaign that aims at shedding light on equitable masculinities and positive partnership. 

Position Summary 

Search  seeks to work with a certified translator who will be responsible for the translation of the final report of the participatory, youth-led gender and masculinities research . The report should be translated from English to Arabic as  this is considered ultimately necessary for the widespread  of information, knowledge, findings and ideas that resulted from the youth-led research experience.

The position holder will more specifically have the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities

• Attend an induction meeting with the Search project team;
• Translate a 45-50 pages report from English to Arabic, while maintaining the originality of the report and of the main language; and
• Hold an open communication with the Search project team, and share updates and challenges if any.

Minimum required Profile 

• Certified  translator;
• Excellent knowledge on the Lebanese context, and particularly on topics related to human rights, VAWG, gender equality, diversity and inclusion, men engagement, equitable masculinities, youth engagement, etc.;
• Experience in translating documents on topics related to VAWG, gender & masculinities;
• Experience in working with NGOs; and
• Excellent communication skills and high flexibility.
