Education assistant

Assignments and functions:

The Education assistant is in charge of the implementation and follow up of the Education – CP activities carried out within the project under the following components:

  1. Reporting
  • In coordination with the outreach team and/or partners staff, define the groups of eligible children that can be enrolled in Education – CP activities
  • Collect all the beneficiaries’ data needed for the CLM reporting: (child registration assessment form and Pre/post tests and any other information useful for the project activities).
  • Provide support in data entry of identified children under ECE, BLN and ABLN activities on the CLM
  • Update the online database system with activities, data and attendance at least once/week
  • Prepare the list of children to be referred to ALP/ formal education and follow up regularly with families and provide feedbacks
  1.  Education Technical 
  • Ensure that AVSI Education activities are carried out in compliance with MEHE SOPs for CB-ECE, BLN and Retention
  • Regularly follow up on the Education – CP activities using the technical tools provided
  • Submit the weekly technical report and coordinate with AVSI Education Technical department and Field Coordinators on teachers’ performance and needs
  • In collaboration with AVSI Education Technical department, provide on-job coaching and technical support to teachers and teachers’ assistants (class observation, one to one meeting, peer to peer support)
  • Ensure the inclusion of children with special needs in Education – CP activities
  1.  Child Protection
  • Ensure that all personnel’s working in Learning centers are respecting AVSI Child Safeguarding policy on which they have been trained
  • Identify children with special needs or potential Child Protection abuse cases and refer them to the area CP officer
  • Conduct regular meetings and awareness sessions with caregivers
  • Organize Monthly Education/ CP meeting with the teachers and personnel in each Learning center and share feedbacks with the Field Coordinator and the EDU/CP technical team.

IV- Management of resources in centers

  • Ensure that the program is carried out in compliance with AVSI administrative procedures
  • Identify and refer the administrative/logistic needs of the centers to the Field Coordinator/Office Coordinator/Logistic staff (maintenance, goods and supplies, teachers’ issues etc.)
  • Guarantee the exclusive use of the communication with caregivers and center personnel
  • Guarantee the correct functioning of the transportation and snack services by: 
  • Preparing the students’ bus lists and share it with Logistics
  • Verifying the children benefitting of the transportation vs. the list provided to the driver and, when needed, update the bus lists
  • Collecting and verifying, on a daily basis, the attendance of children and the number of snacks delivered and distributed
  • Reporting any issue concerning snacks and transportation to the supervisor and logistics
  • Timely submission of timesheets to the supervisor on the last day of activities in each month

V- Other Duties

  • Ensure that the success stories of children are identified and communicated to the supervisor/communication department.
  • Provide the communication department with pictures and videos of children implementing the activities at home with their parents
  •  Participate in staff trainings
  • Perform other duties within areas of responsibility as requested by the supervisor
