Background

 

Concern Worldwide in Lebanon is implementing a protection programme in the North of Lebanon working with Men, Women and Children refugees and host community members. The programme aims to mitigate the impact of displacement and violence on families, with a focus on Gender & SGBV, Conflict Mitigation, Stress Management and Child Protection risks. Concern aims to address protection concerns in Akkar and T5 through provision of PSS, FPSS, positive parenting, emotional support groups and Case Management (CM) mechanisms.

 

Purpose of the service

Concern will implement ‘Women’s Group for Life Skills’ programmes for women and adolescent girls which aims to build the knowledge and skills, and to promote empowerment and resilience for suviours of GBV. This will be done through establishing 3 ‘Women’s Group for Life Skills’ in Akkar in order to give them a space where they can meet to discuss common topics related to GBV and provide them with therapy through psychodrama sessions

 

In humanitarian crisis contexts, such as is being experienced in Lebanon currently, ensuring access to safe, nutritious, good quality and culturally appropriate food, is an enormous challenge. Worry about having food in the right quantity and at the right time and place during an emergency or a protracted crisis is likely to increase stress

 

Description of services to be provided

 

Concern Worldwide Lebanon requires an individual and/or organisation who can provide the following services:

 

  1. Group sessions/workshop (maximum 5 sessions) on food safety, security and sustainability, to be delivered to 45 women and adolescent girls (Syrian refugees and Lebanese host communities) located in 2 areas in Akkar. [KH1] 

The aim and objective of the sessions.

  • Conduct and engage in nutrition and health education to ensure the promotion of positive health care- seeking behaviors, including maternal and child health considering the economic status of participants.
  • Train women and adolescent girls on food conservation, including the provision of materials, in light of the current situation taking into account electricity shortages and increasing produce prices
  • Training on food safety developed based on the education level and knowledge of different socio-economic groups

 

Terms & Conditions:

 

Fees for this would be based on

 

  • Food safety, security and sustainability sessions conducted over 5 weeks for 3 groups
  • Materials, including presentations and other tools to be used during the traininf
  • Debreifing with the programme managers on the outcome of the workshop

 

Working Arrangements

 

According to the description above, the service shall involve the delivery of food safety, security and sustainability sessions for the project participants in a safe space provided and arranged by Concern staff.

 

All of the service must be available in Arabic, in a manner which is cognisant and appropriate for the cultural context and background of our staff members.

 

These services should be available by the mid of October 2021.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential:

 

Individuals who wish to pursue certification must first have:

  1. Master’s degree in nutrition or any other related fields.
  2. Experience in humanitarian nutrition projects
  3. Previous experience with IYCF, family MUAC and interacting with the MoPH PHCs and hospitals in Lebanon
  4. Fluent in English and Arabic
  5. Respect for confidentiality and data protection

 

Preferred:                                                 

  1. Experience of working with humanitarian aid workers.
