MHGAP Trainer

Training objectives

The general objective of the mhGAp is to provide trainees (GPs, nurses, midwives) with enhanced skills to implement psychosocial/low intensity psychological interventions to adults with mild or moderate mental health disorders.

Training content

The training should last 4 or 5 days and be in Arabic and cover the mhGAP intervention Guide for mental, neurological and substance use (MNS) disorders in non-specialized health settings. The trainer should cover at least the following topics:

• General principles of care
• Acute stress
• Trauma related disorders
• Moderate-severe depressive disorder
• Psychosis 
• Suicide/Self -Harm
• Harmful use of alcohol and drugs
• Developmental Disorders

Target population

• General practitioners, nurses, Social workers  and Psychologists from the Supported MDM  PHCCs.
• MdM staff and staff from other parteners

SCHEDULE

Location, dates and duration

Location: The trainings will take place in Lebanon (in person or online based on the context challenges).

Dates: From November 2021 until end of 2022.

Duration of the training: Minimum of 4/5 days

Supervision sessions: 1 supervision session every 3 weeks to one month. Each supervision session will have duration 1,5 hour to 2 hour based on the number of participants.

Supervision duration: will be defined bases on the starting and ending day of the training  and the requirements of each project. 

DELIVERABLES

• Training curricula and material
• A pre and post tests needs to be conducted and submitted.
• Final report must be submitted to the MdM and should include the following sections:
  • 1. Introduction: Training overview, learning objectives, trainer and participant details
  • 2. Presentation of training outcomes: Pre-post-test results (graph), last day evaluation
  • outcomes (post), narrative feedback
  • 3. Annexes (Agenda, signed and scanned attendance sheet, data-entry attendance list, pre-posttest template, evaluation template)
  • 4. Scanned pre-post-test and evaluation

Requested profile

· Mandatory

• Minimum Diploma: doctor in psychiatry,
• ToT mhGAP certification
• Experience in the humanitarian field
• Arabic and English language
