Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Technical support and capacity building
- Provide technical support to AVSI staff and NFE teachers including: training, coaching and mentoring on Education technical topics
- Organize and implement capacity building activities for partners according to the identified needs
- Develop, update and customize technical tools and curricula for Non-Formal Education activities
- Lead the selection of teachers and teacher assistants for NFE activities and ensure continuous monitoring of their performance
- Ensure that technical reports and classroom observations tools are regularly reviewed and provide prompt technical support responding to needs and gaps
- Capitalize and work on the documentation of good practices and lessons learnt
- Work closely with the Child Protection team to support the full integration of CP approach into Education programs by:
- coordinating on the objectives of NFE curricula to integrate SEL/PSS/LS and recreational activities
- building a common training path and coaching process for NFE teachers
- Education Advisor:
- Provide technical support to Program Managers in planning and implementation of Education activities
- Contribute to the development of new project proposals and Education strategic documents
- Continuously work on the identification of innovative Education methodologies and tools to enhance the implementation of NFE activities
- Monitoring and Evaluation of the quality of Non-Formal Education activities
- Collaborate with the MEAL department for the development of quantitative and qualitative monitoring tools for Education programs by establishing a continuous communication, informing them whenever new activities are starting and making sure that the MEAL department has all elements needed for the creation of M&E systems.
- Ensure the coherence of tools and strategies adopted in the implementation of Non-Formal Education activities across different Education projects
- Ensure that the quality of NFE activities is regularly monitored through field visits and spot checks
- Reporting and external coordination
- Represent AVSI during national technical meetings and committees with MEHE and the Education sector
- Take from the Education sector tools, platform and best practices that could be replicated internally by AVSI and vice versa
- Build and maintain positive relationship with donors and partners, INGOs, and national NGOs by representing AVSI in meetings, trainings, seminars, workshops
- Coordination of the Education Technical Unit
- Coordinate the work of the Junior Education Specialist and the Inclusion Officer
- Establish yearly workplan for the Education Technical Unit according to the priorities of the Education department in coordination with Program Managers
