Social Field Assistant

    1. Role and responsibilities:

The Social Field Assistant will contribute to the identification and selection of the most vulnerable families that could benefit from Shelter project activities within the South area.

Generic Responsibilities

  1. Implement the social activities according to strategy, proposals and plans
  2. Adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
  3. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
  4. Provide data for periodic progress reports and other documents as required; and participate in preparing when needed
  5. Communicate with beneficiaries regarding relevant project information
  6. Ensure all appropriate project documentation is completed as NRC guidelines and donors’ requirements
  7. Handle distribution and assessment within south area.
  8. Carries out related mainstreaming of protection in programme daily implementation as per the set of NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines, and ensures reporting any breaches/concerns to the line manager for proper action.
  9. Ensures that all protection related detected cases are referred to the concerned referral focal point and to the related Protection Coordinator.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Collect and report information regarding the socio-economic situation of Syrian and Palestinian refugee families and vulnerable Lebanese families with specific attention paid to those targeted by the project.
  • Explain the project aims and objectives to those interested in the programme and families in need of or requesting assistance during visits, at the office and on field.
  • Explain the NRC selection criteria to persons and families in need of or requesting shelter assistance.
  • Being able to articulate himself/herself in critical situations with positive manners
  • Arrange meetings with the beneficiaries and where necessary discuss issues.
  • Handle phone calls with beneficiaries and local communities
  • Identify households in need and identify properties in accordance with NRC criteria
  • Coordinate with Shelter technical and WASH teams in relation to all shelter activities and modalities  
  • Report all protection related concerns following internal and external referral pathways
  • Support the process of explanation and signing of lease agreements held between shelter tenants and property owners as needed and shelter agreements between NRC and landlords
  • Lead the process of rent receipt collection from NRC beneficiaries as well as follow up the payments to be paid to the beneficiaries based on the needed tools.
  • Monitor the situation of the families as needed, and follow up on all families’ relocation.
  • Follow up on all problematic cases with money transfer companies with finance team, and work on the needed corrections or support to facilitate the process for the beneficiaries.
  • Being ready to work in camps, informal settlements, and Palestinian camps, and to support in other working areas when needed
  • Participate in the resolution of conflicts with a focus on eviction prevention
  • To demonstrate effective time and task management skills to meat deadlines.
  • Generate comprehensive weekly and monthly situation reports reflecting trends, challenges and needs on field.

    2. Competencies:

Professional competencies :

  • Bachelor degree in Social Work or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience with shelter WASH projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (words, excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in using outlook or other mailing platforms.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of the context of refugee informal settlements and/or urban settlements.
