ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the management from the Child Rights Governance (CRG) Programme Manager, the CRG Coordinator is responsible for the promotion of the Rights of the Child in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child through co-operation with local and regional organizations, institutions, authorities and international organizations.
The post holder will lead the implementation of the CRG projects in the Beirut, Mount Lebanon and South Field Offices. This should be done in accordance with the guidelines of Save the Children International, which aims to strengthen the civil society in which children are perceived as social players and human beings in their own right. This includes budget as well as programmatic implementation and monitoring according to SCI standards.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight).

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Project Management & Coordination
- Supports the CRG Programme Manager in the development of the program’s annual work plan with realistic and achievable long-term goals and short-term objectives.
- Follows up and reports on programme objectives that are achieved and on deviations from the work plan and budget.
- Develops projects’ plan and follows up on implementation and reports back against the plans as required.
- Supports and the CRG Programme Manager and the MEAL in the writing of donor progress reports and document case studies of successes, challenges, lessons learned and other project-related feedback.
- Coordinates the work with consultants on program specific components/activities.
- Organizes and contributes to program activities/events directly implemented by SCI (invitees, resource persons, logistics, etc.).
- Contributes to the institutional memory and the experience-sharing by reporting and feedback, innovating initiatives and by networking with other colleagues/regions.
- Ensures accountability and transparency with all the implementing activities.
- Ensures that documents such as project memos, descriptions and agreements are developed and kept according to approved formats and SCI standard filing systems.
Partnership Coordination
- Coordinates contractual agreements between CSO partners / consultants and SCI in line with SCI’ contractual requirements.
- Follows up and monitors partners (3 partners at least) based on contractual agreements made with SCI through conducting field visits, attending project activities and producing timely reports for internal use on the status of on-going programming.
- Coordinates the capacity building of partners.
- Follows up on reporting requirements by partners.
- Conducts organizational assessment for Partners and set OCD plans.
Staff Management & Relationship
- Support the capacity building of CRG officer in child rights governance and child rights based programming and in the preparation of detailed implementation plans.
- Manage CRG Officer and ensuring performance objectives are set and revisited, support is provided as needed and feedback is provided on a timely basis.
- Contributes to co-ordination between the program areas to ensure maximum impact of the activities in SCI programs and ensure adequate support provided to partners from MEAL, PDQ, Cash Ops, PAC, and Partnerships.
- Participates in internal and external coordination meetings as required, and interact regularly with Save the Children’s other sectors (education, child protection, health/nutrition, shelter and WASH) to ensure coordinated and efficient programming.
- Support the work of the Policy, Advocacy, and Communication department on advocacy and campaigning projects which involves partners’ engagement and child participation.
- Maintain clear understanding of the security, political and legal context.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in social work, international relations, human rights or development studies.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English, both spoken and written.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 2-4 years of child rights and/or child rights governance programming experience with at least 1- year staff management experience preferably with INGO(s).
- Demonstrated experience in working in partnerships with NGOs / CSOs and governments.
- Strong understanding of child rights and governance.
- Strong experience in field work and community mobilization; and in training groups of children and other community members.
- Strong experience working with local partners and capacity development.
- Strong reporting skills
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
