Job Overview
The Activity Manager will work under the UNICEF-funded WASH project implemented in partnership with Lebrelief. Mada will be responsible for Hygiene Promotion and other soft activities (including community mobilization) in specific areas of T5.
Under the direct supervision of the WASH Project Manager, the Activity Manager will be responsible to:
- Effectively participate in the on the job training with Lebrelief.
- Lead on the planning, implementation and monitoring of Hygiene Promotion and community mobilization activities.
- Provide full support and training to Hygiene Promoters and other program activities on the field.
- Ensure that Hygiene Promotion activities are well executed and deliver quality results, and where appropriate, proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance.
- Update the Hygiene Promotion data tools on a daily basis.
- Ensure personal flexibility (emergency phase), involvement and respect
- Participate on the capitalization of Mada WASH tools and guidelines
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities:
- Participate in the capacity building and training plans with the lead partner.
- Ensure that assigned activities are implemented according to work plan and the methodology is validated by the lead partner, the program manager and the project manager.
- Prepare the work plan for assigned Hygiene Promotion activities, including but not limited to: emergency preparedness and response, messaging, behavior change communications, community mobilization and water management.
- Prepare weekly team planning and project cycle planning
- Participate in the preparation and implementation of diagnostics.
- Follow and report on Hygiene Promotion-related activities
- Facilitate community involvement in the design and delivery of hygiene and waste management services through focus group discussions and the capacity building of gender-specific user groups.
- Supervise data collection and follow up of impact beneficiaries at field level.
- Compile reports from the field team regarding the progress of activities including distributions and analyse for program development.
Human Resources Management
- Manage, supervise and provide daily technical support to assigned field team.
- Provide guidance and capacity building to team members on hygiene promotion and community development.
- Ensure that all team members understand and respect the principles and working procedures.
- Conduct workshops and regular or ad hoc meetings.
- Evaluate the performance of the members of his/her team(s).
- Ensure that effective participation of the field teams in the on-the-job trainings.
Reporting / coordination / communication / representation
- Report back any problems and constraints encountered during project implementation, and suggest appropriate solutions
- Report on any update on context or any event that may affect activities
- Report every week to Manager on progress on capacity building, activities according to format and participate in monthly progress reports.
- Lead the reporting on Activity info
- Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and guidelines
- Participate to WASH sector meetings
- Liaise with the local communities and authorities in order to identify needs, complaints, or any issues which could affect project activities
Skills, Qualifications, Experience and attitude required:
- Degree in Public Health, Environmental health science, Nursing or any related technical qualification ((Strong experience in hygiene promotion is a substitute for formal education).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in relevant fields and managing a team.
- Experience in project cycle management.
- Commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building of the team.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with partner organizations, public institutions and service providers
- Fluently spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Knowledge and experience in participatory methods for community development, mobilization and trainings.
- Familiarity with key health and hygiene issues and hygiene promotion/education activities in informal settlements
- Previous experience with NGO is an asset.
- Deep understanding of age, gender and diversity issues with regard to WASH.
- Knowledge of minimum WASH standards.
- Experience in managing and analyzing data and statistics
- Very good command of MS office.
- Strong commitment to ensuring the protection of refugees
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills and ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills and able to coordinate and manage a diverse array of activities and stakeholders
