BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Assisting more than 90 million people in 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

As the international community has committed to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide still do not have enough to eat. Food and food-related assistance lie at the heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.

In Lebanon, WFP works to support approximately 1,200,000 refugees through e-cards; 350,000 Lebanese through NPTP; 75,000 Syrian and Lebanese children through School Meals; and 400,000 Lebanese with in-kind assistance through the economic crisis response. With the goal of providing excellence in user service for the people we serve, WFP is looking for a Full Stack Web Developer to assist the team in their current development tasks, deliver well-documented maintainable code as well as implement corporate WFP solutions in Lebanon.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Digital Assistance Services Lead, the Developer will perform the following tasks:

  • Make technical and architectural decisions to ensure that the product is delivered efficiently and with clearly explained technical rationale
  • Develop and deliver high-quality code, under the supervision of the lead developer
  • Proactively collaborate with the other team members as well as with the business users of the project
  • Build detailed project plants and timelines, including deliverables and milestones
  • Create the easy-to-read documentation of end-users as well as for support hand-over
  • Customize, implement, and validate corporate solutions for the Lebanon office
  • Engage with business users on their needs to document and implement change requests and resolve issues
  • Perform any other task as required

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Secondary School Education. University degree in Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology is a plus

Experience: At least five (5) years of professional experience in Software or Web Development

Languages: Fluency in both written and oral communication in English and Arabic

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Technical Skills Required:

  • Good working experience in PHP
  • Good experience in using Laravel Framework
  • A good understanding of REST API fundamental
  • Good Knowledge in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
  • Good Experience with React Framework
  • Good understanding of code versioning tools (such as git)
  • Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact
  • Mature judgment with effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels
