DESCRIPTION: 

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people in 70 countries who are affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation and our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of neutrality and impartiality.

Our project focuses on providing medical and mental health care to Migrant Workers in the country.

Responsibilities:

MSF is looking to establish a roster of psychiatrists to respond to mental health emergencies in the field, the psychiatrist will intervene with MSF staff to manage acute cases that might need hospitalization or immediate management.

Accountabilities:

• Provide treatment for patients suffering from severe and common psychiatric disorders with specific attention to the cultural context during emergencies.
• Provide training to national and international medical staff (doctors and nurses) on diagnosis and treatment of severe and common mental health disorders according to MSF guidelines.
• Ensure that guidelines and psychotropic medications from MSF standard drug list are available in the project.
• Ensure that proper information on treatment and follow up are collected in order to monitor the provision of care.
• Evaluate in-country available psychiatric services including possibilities for psychiatric hospitalization and the quality of these services.
• Form a relationship with MoH and exploration of sustainability of psychiatric treatment.
• Establish collaboration/communication with medical specialties in the project in order to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
• Ensure on-call availability (according to a roster) for the management of MH emergencies of patients with acute / severe symptoms.
• Intervene on field with a MH team in response of MH emergencies referred to MSF migrant workers project.
• Provide a treatment plan (OPD treatment or hospitalisation) for psychiatric patient in an emergency.
• Ensure complete documentation of all cases new and follow up (group and individual sessions), in the patient file and statistic sheets.
• Report all technical information linked to clinical cases to Technical Manager.
• Inform the Line Manager about problems exceeding one’s competence, ask for support.
• Availability to work in different places according to the needs of the MSF target population.
• Implement MH psychiatric activities according with MSF guidelines, standards and procedures.
• Ensure that all patient information is kept confidential. 

Education:

• Essential Medical Doctor degree specialized in psychiatry
• Essential License to practice by the Lebanese MoPH as a medical doctor specialized in psychiatry
• Essential Valid registration at the Order of physicians as a specialist in psychiatry

Experience: 

• Essential working experience as a psychiatrist
• Essential working experience with psychiatric emergencies: patients with acute psychiatric symptoms (agitated patients)

Flexibility in working on weekends is needed.
