JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Fieldwork Interviewer
Place: Arsal, Marj
Direct supervisor: International Consultant (remote supervision)
Main objective: Working under the direction of the international consultant based in France, the Fieldwork Interviewer will be working in pair with another interviewer in the data collection phase of the evaluation. Training will be provided online to the post-holders in order to ensure that he/she develop all necessary knowledge and skills to conduct quality data collection.
Time frame: 24th January to 2nd of February 2022 (8 working days)
Salary/Daily rate: 51USD
Main responsibilities
- Conducting data collection: consenting of participants, complete surveys with participants, conducting interviews and focus groups, transcribing interviews on a daily basis
- Ensuring that the study is conducted to a high standard of quality, ethics, privacy and according to the standards and protocols taught during the training session.
Main activities
- Preparation of the field work
- Participate to the online training session with the international consultant (1/2 day)
- Ensure translation of the interview grids (The tools will be developed in English or French, and the surveyor should be capable to pass them in Arabic)
- Data collection
- Ensure you are well prepared and that you have all the needed tools (questionnaires, interviews grids, pens) and that you are organized for the field trip.
- Conduct visit of the 2 partners centres in Marj and Arsal and conduct interviews with centers’ staff.
- Conduct interviews with psychosocial services users (children and their care-givers)
- Conduct focus groups with self-help groups members.
- Conduct interviews with local NGOs representatives
- Ensure utmost privacy and respect during collection
- Coordination and communication
- Exchange information on a daily basis with the Consultant on data collection progress and challenges
- Participate in online regular meetings with the consultant (1 meeting every two days)
- Communicate possible needs or logistics challenges to the HI focal point
Note that the interviewer will need to have his/her personal computer for the interview transcription.
Requested competences/skills/profile
Professional skills and experience required:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject pertaining (but not limited) to: Psychology, Case Management, Social Work, Social Sciences, Education or any related field
- Experience in humanitarian context will be an asset
- Awareness of mental health issues and/or disability will be an asset
- Ability to work in a volatile security context and to apply strict security rules
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Good writing skills

- Excellent oral communication skills, excellent interviewing and listening skills, ability to be diplomatic
- High sense of confidentiality, ethics, and accountability
