LOCATION: Beirut, Lebanon

ABAAD PURPOSE:

ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings.

JOB PURPOSE:

This is a project management position where ABAAD is seeking an experienced and proactive Project Coordinator to manage the planning, implementation and evaluation of GBV prevention and response services project.

REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to:  Senior Program Support Coordinator

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible of the management and implementation of the project activities;
  • Responsible of grant management including budget and  procurement;
  • Prepare work plans, follow up on field implementation with Implementation unit for  timely and efficient implementation;
  • Develop budget spending plan for the efficient and effective implementation of the project within the set budget parameters;
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities;
  • Develop, in close coordination with the MEL team, a MEL framework, in addition to all other MEL tools required for the effective implementation of the project including measurable indicators;
  • Develop forms and records to document project activities as per the donor’s and ABAAD’s internal requirements;
  • Set-up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured;
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project;
  • Establish a communication plan to update stakeholders including project staff in the organization on the progress and impact of the project;
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project support team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards;
  • Ensure the project implementation is in compliance with all donors’/partners’ procedures and regulations (procurement, financial, etc…);
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures;
  • Monitor any potential risks, through developing risk-management plan to avoid any delay or challenges that might affect the effectiveness of the project implementation;
  • Capture learning and document the work of successful stories, to ensure that the projects’ inputs are producing positive results in the lives of persons of concern;
  • Write narrative reports on the project for management and for donors;
  • Facilitate learning and linkages among local staff and partner organizations;
  • Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly);
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures;
  • Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date;
  • Work closely with the finance officer to prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for donors as outlined in funding agreements;
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality;
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase;
  • Prepare payment and cash requests as needed;

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Minimum of five years of project management experience (NGO is a must)
  • University degree in social science or related discipline, including gender and development;
  • Proven track record of working in a similar capacity with national and/or international NGOs in the region;
  • Knowledge of gender and gender equality, Experience in protection is a plus;
  • Experience in project cycle management, monitoring, and coordination;
  • Experience in Budget holding and budget management;
  • Highly skilled in report writing in both languages (Arabic and English – French is a plus);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic;
  • Strong ability to work with others and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, and power point;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards;
  • Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership); and
  • Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
