Community Health Team Leader-South Area

Background: S/he is a member of the field area team which includes the field medical advisor, the area pharmacist, the senior health officer, the health officers, the quality officers, and the program assistants per area.
Health program provides both technical and financial support to local primary health care centers to enable provision of affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare services to refugee and vulnerable host population.

Job Purpose: The Community Health team leader is the frontline staff involved in supervising a team of community volunteers and leading them to implement community health activities in the different areas

Main Responsibilities:

  • Will identify, recruit and supervise 10 to 15 CH outreach volunteers in assigned area
  • Create capacity building plan for volunteers based on learning needs and knowledge gaps
  • Create weekly schedule of activities for CH outreach volunteers
  • Establish age-based community health clubs in catchment area of PHCs with the CH outreach volunteers
  • Responsible of establishing disease-focused clubs at the PHC in collaboration with PHC staff and volunteers
  • Maintain a good network of coordination and collaboration with field actors and joint activities
  • Plan and execute appropriate NFI distribution based on the needs of the community
  • Establish strong link between PHCs and the surrounding community through regular meeting, visits and feedback
  • Execute health campaign plan on both administrative and field levels
  • Responsible of maintaining and ensuring all volunteer assets are available and well utilized, like educational toolkit, tablet, guidebook, bag, IEC materials
  • Responsible for distribution of IEC material like flyers and posters in the community
  • Responsible for writing success stories and providing materials for communications department
  • Provide one-on-one training and on the coaching on CH guidebook
  • Responsible of maintaining the right flow of information from mental health, disability and GBV projects to volunteers
  • Encourage HOVs and beneficiaries to use the community-based feedback and complaints mechanism to voice out all their needs and concerns in order to provide them with the best service
  • Responsible of producing a set of weekly and monthly reports that include: awareness and club database, referral database, monitoring visits sheet, HOV performance tracking sheet, and knowledge improvement reports
  • As quality monitoring, conduct systematic phone calls with beneficiaries of CH activities to validate data collected by volunteers and quality of their performance

Essential Qualifications: BS in Nutrition, Pharmacy and Nursing or any other medical field of at least three years duration

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous work with a non-governmental organization or community-health programming
  • Providing health awareness and health promotion activities
  • Supervising field teams
  • Working knowledge in the provision of Maternal and Child Health care
  • Participating in community needs assessments and surveys

Essential Competency:

  • Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable Competency: 

  • Good writing and reporting skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Good communication skills
