ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the management from the Child Rights Governance (CRG) Coordinator, the CRG officer is responsible for the promotion of the Rights of the Child in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child through co-operation with local and regional organizations, institutions, authorities and international organizations.
This position of CRG officer will lead the implementation of the CRG project activities in the Beirut, Mount Lebanon and South Field Offices. This should be done according to the guidelines of Save the Children International, which aims to strengthen the civil society in which children are perceived as social players and human beings in their own right. This includes programmatic implementation and monitoring according to SCI standards.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight).
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: CRG Coordinator
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Project Implementation
- Plans, prepares and oversees the implementation of the Child Rights Programme in Beirut/Mount Lebanon/South Lebanon.
- Ensures the timely delivery of a quality programme with the support of CRG Coordinator.
- Ensures appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems are in place, support staff in all monitoring processes and provide monthly and weekly reports on progress.
- Organizes and contributes to program activities/events directly implemented by SCI, including child participation activities (invitees, resource persons, logistics, etc.)
Partnership Coordination
- Supports the partners’ CRG officers and facilitators in the daily tasks.
- Ensures constant and transparent communication and collaboration with relevant community structures and community leaders.
- Documents best practices and case studies for the purpose of reporting, advocacy and media efforts.
- Shares information on field-level successes and challenges with the CRG Coordinator.
- Follows up and monitors partners (3 partners at least) based on contractual agreements made with SCI through conducting field visits, attending project activities and producing timely reports for internal use on the status of on-going programming.
- Coordinates the capacity building of partners.
- Follows up on reporting requirements by partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in social work, international relations, human rights or development studies.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Two to three years of experience in the child rights/ child rights governance programmes.
- At least one year of experience with International NGOs or in an emergency context.
- Experience in team leading and handling programmes action plans.
- Ability to write weekly and monthly reports.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in working in partnerships with NGOs / CSOs and government.
- Computer skills.
- Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment.
