The VTE4all project financed by the EU and implemented by GIZ, is designed to support Lebanon in the context of the protracted displacement crisis providing job-related competences for vulnerable Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians. The main project approach is participatory and based on capacity development which aims to empower key stakeholders in Vocational and Technical Education. The project activity consists in developing curricula of Competency Based Training (CBT) modules in at least two sectors (different from construction). The selection of the sectors was made in a way to cover the needs of the local market and the CBT modules are delivered as short-term courses in the afternoon in a public school of the Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education DGVTE and in the morning as a Travaux Pratique (TP) in the frame of a secondary technical education. The two sectors initially selected are furniture manufacturing and food production.

Outline of the mission

begins his/her mission with a thorough assessment of the existing machines and tools at 8 technical schools and institutes assigned by the VTE4all project. He/she needs to identify for each of them the maintenance interventions that should be carried out to make them work properly. Specifications of spare parts to be used should be also included in the assessment. A document organised by schools and by equipment should be delivered and should include the description and the details of the interventions required with the indicative cost for the spare parts and materials and for the work to be done. The document produced will be part of a request of offers and then contracting for a maintenance service in selected schools. The mission must be completed within one month of signing the contract and the expected working days is up to 19 working days as per below schedule:

Assess the condition of 8 kitchens:   16 working days

Report writing       3 working days

Requirements:

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, manufacturing, mechanical or production engineering (minimum requirement) or alternatively 4 years of additional general professional experience. (One or the other will be considered as minimum requirement).
• Fluency in English language (preferred requirement).
• Fluency in Arabic language (minimum requirement).
• Excellent communication skills (minimum requirement).
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office or equivalent open-source packages in addition to proficiency in desk research and browsing the web (minimum requirement).

General professional experience

• At least 6 years of working experience as an appliance repair technician or maintenance technician for kitchen appliances or home service professional (repair damaged or malfunctioning home appliances as well as install and maintain functioning appliances) (minimum requirement).
• At least 6 years of working experience in evaluating and assessing machines and equipment conditions in addition to troubleshooting and failure analysis related to general kitchen equipment and small appliances. (Preferred requirement)

Specific professional experience

• 6 years of working experience in kitchen equipment and small appliances maintenance (minimum requirement).
• 2 years of experience with international projects (preferred requirement)
