The UNICEF-funded” School Bridging Program” a school-based bridging program aims to create for out-of-school children’s multiple pathways that are flexible and responsive to each child’s unique learning needs. The program will be implemented in 20 private schools and is estimated to target 5,000 out of school children.
World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “Educational Quality Focal Point” for the UNICEF “School Bridging Program”. This position is for a Lebanese national.
Scope and Responsibilities
The Educational Quality Focal Point will work closely and report to and assist the World Learning’s Beirut office School Bridging Program – Project Manager in the implementation of the field activities and monitoring the quality of the technical program in the 20-target schools. The activities related to School bridging program focused on non-formal primary school education in Arabic, English, French, Math and SEL. S/he will be able to:
- Act as a facilitator and focal point for various project activities – training, in-classroom program implementation, in-school coaching, and impact study.
- Work closely with the partners field coordinators and technical team to improve quality of teaching and learning at the school level in any of its modalities (face-to-face; hybrid, and/or form a distance).
- Provide logistics support to ensure proper implementation of the field activities (trainings, distribution/delivery of resources and material).
- Contribute to coaching and supporting teachers, during recurring project activities
- Collaborate with partners’ educational team, school staff (principals, teachers, and administrators) to facilitate learning and provide necessary support to improve the learning environment at the school and create a community of learners. This includes Arabic and English Literacy or Arabic and French Literacy, math and numeracy, technology literacy, social emotional learning, data collection, data entry and verification, logistics, resources and teaching and learning materials (TLMs) distribution and dissemination
- Visit schools’ areas across the country as frequently as needed and document to show evidence/progress of implementation, and challenges.
- Perform additional tasks as needed and requested by the Project Manager or Senior Management
- Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or having a teaching diploma or relevant degree. Master’s degree is an advantage.
- 4 years and above Experience in teaching and/or working at the primary school level in Lebanon preferably cycle 1: Grades 1,2,3
- Excellent Arabic language skills (Reading /Writing) and foreign language skills French or English
- Excellent computer skills (outlook, excel, word, PowerPoint, video conferencing and online learning platforms)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledgeable of the community they live in and its geography and needs
- Able to transport easily within one governorate
- Experience in distance learning is an advantage;
- Assess challenges and make advised decision
- Commitment to work under pressure and to deliver within timelines
- Capacity to prioritize and good planning skills
- Capacity to work with different group of people
- Capacity to report with evidence on indicators
Duration of the Assignment
Full employment for 7 months with possibilities of renewal
