ABOUT THE STRUCTURE…

 

Solidarités International is an International NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Specialized for nearly 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, S.I. takes charge of emergency and reconstruction programs.

With respect for cultures and close to the people, Solidarités International implements its programs by combining its skills with those of its employees and local managers.

 

Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Caribbean where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods.

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

MISSION

Under the direct Supervision of the Infrastructure Program Manager, the Social Engagement Supervisor is in charge of the supervision of social and community-related engagement activities implemented within the HawkaMaa-EU project in targeted host and refugee communities.

Under the HawkaMaa project, activities related to water infrastructure and wastewater management will be implemented, including community engagement activities through a local partner under Solidarités International supervision.

The role of the Social Engagement Supervisor will be to supervise the work of the local NGO (LNGO), in addition to conducting community awareness and engagement campaigns in Lebanese and Syrian communities to promote acceptance and a sense of ownership of the project. The Social Engagement Supervisor could be asked to take part in training, or to train others.

 

 

The Main Priorities:

  • - Familiarise with the different aspects of the project and the communication and engagement strategies affiliated with each aspect
  • - Work with the MEAL team and the implementing teams to be able to work with all the tools used on the field and the reporting frameworks in place
  • - Take over the coordination function with the local partner implementing Social Engagement activities

  • - Coordinating with the local authorities and liaising with the liaison function at SI

 

LIST OF MAIN TASKS

Evaluation / diagnostic:

  • Assists with setting-up criteria for selecting beneficiaries
  • identifies target groups through the communities (women, vulnerable…)
  • Collects accurate data at community level
  • Assists in conducting baseline and end-line surveys
  • Reports any emerging needs to the Program Manager
  • Assists the local partner in the preparation for their activities
  • Sets up and monitors the planning of the local partner

 

Communication / representation

  • Mobilizes the targeted communities and creates awareness about the program activities
  • Listens to complains from the different groups of the communities and channel them to the Program Manager and/or the MEAL team
  • Mitigates problems between communities when arising
  • Analyzes actions to be done to avoid any security accident at community level by liaising closely with security focal point in the region (SLM)
  • Gives support to all Solidarités International activities for community mobilization and communication with local authorities, site and village leaders by liaising closely with the liaison focal point in the region (FCO Assistant)
  • Closely coordinates with the implementing team to stay up to date about activities
  • Receives regular updates from local partner teams on their activities
  • Closely coordinates the approach with the Consortium partners and the North Lebanon Water Establishment (NLWE) by properly reporting progress and validating plans with all relevant stakeholders.

 

Implementation and operational monitoring

  • Monitors the implemented activities by the local partner at the community level by regular on-site visits
  • Sensitizes and trains beneficiaries (if requested by the Program Manager)
  • Assists in conducting assessments and surveys to control progress of program and efficiency of activities
  • Implements awareness campaigns in localities where activities are being implemented by the NLWE
  • Monitors the work of semi-skilled workers hired to work in Solidarites International activities, and make sure that they are being compensated correctly.
  • Implements surveys activities upon the request of the Program Manager
  • Conducts Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussion with Host and Refugee Community.

 

Reporting

  • Shares with the Program Manager every information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurring at field level
  • Prepares regular reports on the activities of the local partner
  • Participates in the preparation of regular program reports
  • Participates in general program meetings (weekly, monthly…)
  • Participate in regular meetings with consortium partners
  • Participate in regular meetings with local partners and NLWE
  • Communicates verbally about any important issue in internal staff meetings

YOUR PROFILE

 

Education:

Studies on Health, Social Work, Social Science, Human Science or equivalent fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Community Work, Social work, education, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with NGO
  • Knowledge of Lebanese context and work in coordination with Water Establishments
  • Knowledge of Near/Middle-East Context

Technical skills and knowledge:

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building of colleagues and partners
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with partner organizations, public institutions, and service providers
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and perform under pressure
  • High tolerance for lengthy processes, and ability to patiently and persistently follow-up
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually and to translate these into concrete results
  • Capacity to work autonomously and in problem prevention/resolution
  • Integrity in line with Solidarités International’s values and ethical standards
  • Cultural, gender, religion, and age sensitivity and adaptability

SI WILL OFFER YOU

 

A salaried post: 1615 USD – Basic salary

Vacation: 1.5 Paid Leaves/month
