Driver

Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation. 

In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.  

WE WORK IN LEBANON AGAINST COVID-19 

  • Focusing on Syrian refugee population and Lebanese host communities, mobilization committees, isolation centres, municipalities and service providers. 
  • Conducting training for health personnel.  
  • Distributing disinfection and dignity kits.  
  • Installing latrines for people with specific needs in Aarsal.  
  • Carrying out channel cleaning to ensure proper drainage. Distributing water through tanker trucks.  

GENERAL OBJECTIVE 

The Driver will assist the capital logistics manager in the efficient usage, monitoring, and planning of the vehicle fleet at the base, In addition, he is responsible for ACTION AGAINST HUNGER car maintenance and frequent reporting about technical issues, keeping ACTION AGAINST HUNGER cars in well condition, and follow up on ACTION AGAINST HUNGER cars papers such as insurance, tickets, and any other documents in the Lebanese Traffic Department.

In addition, the Driver abides by and reinforces all ACTION AGAINST HUNGER security rules and checks of condition of the vehicles.

 

Objective 1 : Vehicle Fleet Management (20%)

  • Helps to ensure full compliance of ACTION AGAINST HUNGER security rules for drivers (seatbelt use, speed limits, daily reporting, GPS tracker connected, etc).
  • Helps on supervision of vehicle movements within the base and country
  • Helps to monitor the maintenance and fuel consumption of vehicles in accordance with Kit Log v3.6 (logbook, fuel usage etc)
  • He will inform and report on a timely manner to the Fleet Manager or Logistics Manager of any security incident

Objective 2: Driving Tasks (50%)

  • Drive ACTION AGAINST HUNGER cars according to the weekly planning
  • Responsible for weekly fueling and routine daily maintenance check of the vehicles (battery, radiator, tires etc.)
  • Report accidents and/or damage to vehicles to fleet manager immediately.
  • Completing vehicle log book (fuel / spare parts / maintenance) and summarizing monthly totals in vehicle log book.
  • Keep vehicles clean on a weekly basis (exterior and interior).
  • Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles and assist technicians in the field

Objetive 3: Security and reporting (15%)

  • Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan
  • Follow and sign the Vehicle use agreement rules.
  • Transport both people and goods in a safe and secure manner at all times.
  • Wear ACTION AGAINST HUNGER vests and identification cards at all times.
  • Follow up on security incidents and report to the Security Focal Point.
  • Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.

 

Objective 4: Support Services (15%)

  • Assist with receive/send documents to lawyer, notary public, translator, and etc…
  • Help maintain the office and repair were needed.

Objective: Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger

  • Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.
  • Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.
  • Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work

 

Requirements:

  • High School certificate with experience in logistic/clerical work.
  • Fleet management, basic mechanical knowledge, basic IT knowledge.
  • 5 years minimum driving experience
  • 2 years minimum experience working on projects at humanitarian aid organizations.
  • Previous experience within the humanitarian sector
