Senior Finance Officer

AMURT Lebanon registered in 2012 as an independent charitable organization and is affiliated with the AMURT Global Network, headquartered in Washington, USA.

Since 2012, AMURT has been addressing hardships that people living in Lebanon are experiencing. Its programs have ranged from disaster relief and emergency response, to psychosocial support, diverse education programs, child protection, social stability, and is currently focusing on the livelihoods sector.

 

The financial officer is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The financial officer will be reporting to the Finance Manager and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

The main tasks & responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Support the Finance Manager with projects’ financial operations and tasks.
  • Conduct periodic financial analysis to identify and resolve issues, gaps, or variances.
  • Maintain accurate general and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of annual comprehensive budgets and all financial reports.
  • Participate in the development of budget proposals.
  • Perform scanning and filing of financial records and ensure proper backup of all files.
  • Perform the reconciliation and verification of accounts with banks.
  • Process and post journal entries daily and adjust into the accounting system to ensure all transactions are recorded in proper accounts and related budget line
  • Ensure that invoices from suppliers are paid in accordance with agreed-upon terms and conditions.
  • Prepare social security contributions and income tax reports on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate office petty cash expenditures and assist the Finance Manager with petty cash reconciliation
  • Ensures there is no cash shortage by anticipating cash withdrawal, informing the line manager in order to prepare the withdrawal request.
  • Prepares the cheques for payments and ensures the authorized persons sign them.
  • Prepare electronic reports to MOF and NSSF as required (S2, R3, R5, R6, R7, R10. Etc.)
  • Prepare monthly employee grid for payroll process
  • Familiar with all insurance policies
  • Regular contact with suppliers
  • Staying informed about all rules, procedures and technologies introduced to accounting.
  • Prepare all documents required for audit and donors inspections
  • Assist with procurement policies, procedures, and practices and specific donors requirements and forms
  • Work with Finance Manager on the monthly cost allocation
  • Prepare financial reports for vacation balance
  • Ensure confidentiality of data and information related to projects and organization
  • Keeping accurate records for all daily transactions
  • Preparing balance sheets and processing invoices
  • Update the internal system with financial data, following the new memos and decrees from MOF
  • Other tasks as required by the Finance Manager

 

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Finance Officer within NGOs.
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and principles.

Good knowledge of Quick Books Accounting software

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and Adaptability skills. Excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks
  • Strong accounting background,
