Organization background and mission brief

 

Mada is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO, established and registered in 2000 in Lebanon, which aims to reinforce the relationship between local communities and their natural environment for the satisfaction of their substantial needs.

Mada association in collaboration with ARCS as Project Leader, currently has funding from the Italian Agency for International Cooperation to implement a 30 months’ project entitled “Promoting Vulnerable Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt” – AID 011528”.

The project aims at supporting vulnerable women of host communities and refugees, in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, in setting off on the path towards social and economic empowerment assisting them with the creation of real opportunity for job and Income Generation Initiatives (IGA). This will be realized through specific trainings intended to strengthen/launch their own business.

 

Job brief and main responsibilities

 

Mada is looking for a Food Processing Technical Trainer to provide four training sessions (each session 3 hours) for a group of women who are managing a home-based business;

 

The Food Processing Technical Trainer has to provide four training sessions in food processing for a small group of 13 women-led business who received endowment funds related to the sector of food production and mouneh preparation with the following training topics, including but not limited to:

  • Basic of food processing;
  • How to avoid leftover food wastage;
  • Preservatives and food preservation (drying, fermentation, refrigeration, freezing and pasteurizing methods);
  • Manufacturing of: jams, pickles, vinegars, pastes, distillers, nuts, spices etc….

 

The technical trainer will provide the mentioned training topics and work closely with the women who received endowment funds to create a healthy training environment while using interactive approaches, and provide support where necessary.

 

Responsibilities

The activities below describe the responsibilities of the technical trainer, in addition to the deliverables per activity and the corresponding timeline.

 

I - Identification of needs:

  • Planning meeting with Mada’s project manager to discuss the current situation of the targeted selected women in addition to their strengths, weakness and needs.
  • Agree with Mada on the training program approach.

Deliverables:

  • Detailed training plan including outlines and timeline;
  • Procurementlist of equipment/material (if required for the training). The list of items required should be submitted at least 7 working days before the first day of training.

II – Provision of training materials designed based on the identified needs

Deliverables:

  • Training materials relevant to each training outline.

Note: training materials should be submitted and delivered in Arabic.

 

III – Implementation of the training program through the delivery of 4 sessions (each session about 3 hours)

  • Prepare pre and post training evaluation test;
  • Provision of 4 training sessions per group;
  • Traveling to the training and business locations in Akkar (Mohammara) and North Lebanon (El Qobbe and Der Ammar) when needed;

Deliverables:

  • Pre and post training evaluation test template and grades;
  • Attendance sheets for each session.

 

IV – Development and provision of training reports.

  • Provision of one training report per group;
  • The report should be comprehensive;
  • Report should include completed activities, progress of the women, difficulties, challenges, strengths and weaknesses relevant to each woman

Deliverables:

  • One training report.

 

The consultant/trainer may conduct the training online, and has to share the link with Mada’s team.

 

Mission timeline

The overall mission period is 4 days during June 2022 (with possible extension).

External interfaces

  • The women trainees.

The trainer will work with Mada project team in close cooperation with the selected women in order to ensure that training program is adequately delivered.

 

Education and knowledge required:

  • Bachelor degree in Agriculture engineering or food technology and / or related field;
  • Practical experience in providing trainings;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in food processing,
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent English technical words knowledge and reporting
