TRAINER: GBV CORE CONCEPT, SAFE IDENTIFICATION AND REFERRAL, INTERAGENCY REFERRAL FORM, SERVICE MAP, GBV (CONCEPTS, SERVICES, CMR)

Background

The protection from GBV project “Champions of Change”, implemented in collaboration with  the Belgian Embassy in Lebanon, aims to reduce the various forms of gender-based violence in five safe spaces for girls & women through adapting a holistic intervention approach including provision of psychological, psychosocial support sessions and awareness-raising to the community members, adding to the development of innovative methodologies and initiatives involving local authorities in reducing GBV. He/She contributes to the smooth implementation of activities for protection from gender-based violence in coordination with the Medical, mental health, Child Protection, livelihood and education Coordinators and with other agencies and local authorities.

Assignment

The Training is intended to enable the exploration of GBV concepts and core principles, safe identification and referral, interagency referral form, service map, GBV (concepts, services, CMR) and because it is aimed at staff teams, the methodology is one in keeping with the adult learning principles of community education. The training will enable participants to make full use of their experience, their previous learning and understanding, and to learn with and from each other.

 

Tasks and Duties

The trainer is in charge of preparing the content and training materials as well as organizing, administering and facilitating two-days sessions to different GBV team members. The aim of this training is to expose participants to the range of methodologies and techniques that can help turn the delivery of humanitarian training into a participatory, high-impact and memorable learning experience.

 

Task 1: Develop sessions, objectives, content and methodology:

  • In close coordination with the coordinator, provide input and advice to determine overall objectives of the training, key content areas and strategy and methodology for its delivering;
  • Draft agendas, course outlines and similar planning material

 

Task 2: Evaluate, Research and Gather Information

  • Review existing course training materials to evaluate whether they adequately cover the objectives of the sessions.
  • Conduct research and gather materials from wide-ranging sources to ensure session content reflects the latest developments and up-to-date methods on Self-Care.

Task 3: Prepare sessions Materials:

  • Prepare presentation material, including PowerPoint slides, audio-visual aids and lesson plans/lecture notes for each presentation.
  • Prepare standard materials for participants, such as a workshop guidebook and/or binder with all related handouts and other materials.

Task 4: Design Interactive Exercises:

  • Design a range of realistic interactive exercises, including “hands-on” practice of skills, to support session content and objectives;
  • Revise and update existing exercises and simulations as needed;
  • Prepare instructions, role descriptions and other materials.

Task 5: Act as Lead Facilitator for the session:

  • Ensure administrative norms such as schedule, breaks, timeliness etc.
  • Facilitate and run various exercises relating to the subject material
  • Facilitate and lead group discussions related to the training material.
  • Establish and maintain a learning atmosphere characterized by intellectual inquiry and openness, mutual respect and fun

  • Exercice materials (instructions, props, etc.).

Education Degree Details
Master degree in Social Sciences, Social work, Psychology, Humanitarian Affairs, International Development, or another relevant field. Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, or other relevant academic field. Extensive experience in GBV programming and management is a plus.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Excellent problem solver and understanding of how various technology solutions can be leveraged to address GBV challenges
• Substantial knowledge and understanding of the GBV framework and related cultural and contextual dynamics;
• Experience in providing group and individual support to service providers working with national and/or international NGOs in the region
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
• Ability to deal with people with tact and diplomacy.
• In depth knowledge of GBV programming in the humanitarian context and familiarity with the main GBV tools, including the IASC Guidelines on GBV in Emergency Settings, the Interagency GBV Case Management Resource Package and the guidelines on PSEA.
• Demonstrated experience in drafting and facilitating trainings
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multi-cultural environments; ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
• The ability to exhibit high energy and to motivate and inspire youth, educators, and professionals;
• Exceptional facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• The ability to receive and implement training and coaching
• 5 years experiences in I/NGOs, preferably in GBV domain.
