GBV FACILITATOR, PART-TIME JOB

Background

The protection from GBV project “Champions of Change”, implemented in collaboration with  the Belgian Embassy in Lebanon, aims to reduce the various forms of gender-based violence in five safe spaces for girls & women through adapting a holistic intervention approach including provision of psychological, psychosocial support sessions and awareness-raising to the community members, adding to the development of innovative methodologies and initiatives involving local authorities in reducing GBV. He/She contributes to the smooth implementation of activities for protection from gender-based violence in coordination with the Medical, mental health, Child Protection, livelihood and education Coordinators and with other agencies and local authorities.

Assignment

The GBV Facilitator will be working on Amel’s project entitled “Champions of Change” alongside with other team members under the supervision of the Social Worker/Focal Point, the Field Coordinator and the GBV Program Coordinator. He/She is based in one of Amel’s centers, working 3 days per week. He/She coordinates and reports on the implementation of the project.

The GBV Facilitator will support our programming needs, will lead sessions helping individuals identify their purpose and articulate key actions they must take to ensure they realize their purpose. The right person should have experience presenting to diverse groups of individuals, should be engaging and interactive, and should inspire and ignite passion in people.

Tasks and Duties

  • Work closely with the GBV team to develop and lead the project activities.
  • Attend and organize training, awareness sessions and/or events, distribute reading and learning materials, register and fill in attendance sheet of trainees related to the activities
  • Participate in and lead community mapping and safety planning exercises to ensure risks faced by adolescent girls are adequately captured.
  • Psychosocial support & life-skills development. -Outreach and introduce the project and services to Adolescent girls to participate in life-skills curriculum, non-formal education and recreational.
  • Facilitate parts of the curriculum with female caregivers.
  • Provide sessions as planned by the GBV/SRH Coordinator and/or Field Coordinator.
  • Provide feedback about the trainings, sessions, events implementations to the project manager.
  • Manage time during the sessions, trainings, workshops to ensure that all aspects of the contents are delivered. Ensure that the designed curriculum is delivered.
  • Design activities for the participants along with the GBV Coordinator, implement as per the needs.
  • Contribute feedback to the GBV Coordinator and Field Coordinator.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results as needed.
  • Assist the coordinator in tracking the implementations and progress of the works.
  • Maintain flexibility to apply and undertake any other task related the project, and required by the center coordinator and/or GBV Manager.

Other duties

  • Mobilize community support and participation in the various community-based activities;
  • Ensure coordination between the centers of AMEL.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education Degree Details
Master or Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Social work, Psychology, Humanitarian Affairs, International Development, or another relevant field. Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, or other relevant academic field with extensive experience in GBV programming and management is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• In depth knowledge of GBV programming in the humanitarian context and familiarity with the main GBV tools, including the IASC Guidelines on GBV in Emergency Settings, the Interagency GBV Case Management Resource Package and the guidelines on PSEA.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multi-cultural environments; ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
• The ability to exhibit high energy and to motivate and inspire youth, educators, and professionals;
• Exceptional facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• The ability to receive and implement feedback and coaching
• At least 3-5 years practical experience in managing GBV projects at international or national level
• Demonstrated experience working with adolescent girls, including facilitating trainings and/or activities targeting adolescent girls
• 2 years experiences in I/NGOs domain.
• Ability to allocate and review priorities to meet deadlines.
• Ability to identify problems and take initiatives.
