BACKGROUND
The Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) program is a multi-year project funded by USAID to develop rural economics in Lebanon through support to the agro-food sector and other industries to unlock local and export sales potential while also creating jobs and increasing farmers’ and worker’s incomes. ARE will increase jobs; improve incomes; improve female participation and employment opportunities; increase domestic and export sales; increase private sector investment; improve access to finance; link value chain actors to domestic and international markets; and improve farm production through improved practices, technology, increased volume, and/or decreased cost.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Communications Assistant/Graphic Designer will support the Communications team in implementing ARE’s strategic communications plan to ensure that the project is raising awareness about ARE’s outcomes and results with target audiences. This involves support in providing graphic design support, creating articles and stories covering ARE’s work to be published on social media channels, writing press releases, compiling and sending weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and supporting in organizing events such as launching events and press conferences. The Communications Assistant/Graphic Designer will also illustrate concepts by designing brochures, leaflets, info graphics, and other required materials while coordinating with team members as necessary. The Communications Assistant/Graphic Designer will also provide targeted support to ARE’s partners in their communication and marketing campaigns.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
Design of factsheets, booklets, banners, posters, press kits and other materials in accordance with USAID’s visibility guidelines.
Design of communications materials for several purposes (social media, internal use, fairs, exhibitions, events…).
Ability to translate researched information into visually stimulating, detailed, and engaging illustrations and infographics.
Create original information graphics using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Support the Communications team in undertaking field visits to collect and produce stories from the field.
Support the Communications team in collecting photos about ARE’s interventions and beneficiaries from the field.Support in organizing events such as launching events, high level visits, and press conferences.
Provide targeted support to ARE’s partners in Graphic Design when needed.
Support the Communication and Outreach Manager as needed to write, compile and send weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Other duties as assigned by the Communications and Outreach Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Communications, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years working in a similar role in the private sector or with other international organizations.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, inDesign, MS Office Suite.
Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills.
LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT
The Communications Assistant/Graphic Designer will be based in the project’s main office in Beirut, Lebanon, and travel throughout the country as needed.
REPORTING
The Communications Assistant/Graphic Designer will report to the Communications and Outreach Manager.
