Design pamphlets for a project entitled: “Psychosocial support, protection and economic empowerment for women and girls affected by the protracted Syria crisis in Beqaa, North and Mount Lebanon areas in Lebanon”.

ABOUT ABAAD

ABAAD – Resource Center for Gender Equality, is an UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. ABAAD is a women-led and supported organization that works on three pillars: (a) Direct Services, (b) Capacity building and resource development, and (c) Advocacy and policy reform.  ABAAD, since its establishment in 2011, has been identified as a leading actor on gender equality in the region and as a reliable reference and partner by the local, regional and international entities that promote gender equality, peace building and sustainable development.

 

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Lebanon has been facing multiple crisis since 2020; from socioeconomic deteriorations, to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Beirut Blast. The collective impact has increased women and girls’ vulnerabilities and risks of gender-based violence (GBV).

 

To address this, ABAAD is implementing a 12-months project funded by Diakonie, that aims at improving access of women and girl survivors of and/or at-risk of GBV to holistic prevention and response services in Lebanon’s North (Tripoli), Bekaa (Baalbek), and Mount Lebanon regions. The project will include a certain number of awareness material to be distributed to the beneficiaries.

 

PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE

ABAAD is looking to hire a Graphic Designer / to purchase Graphic Design services to develop the design of awareness pamphlets that will be distributed in ABAAD’s centers.

The designer shall ensure the translation of the pamphlets from English to Arabic.

The pamphlets will also be designed in Arabic.

It is also requested to print the pamphlets in order to distribute them to beneficiaries.

 

METHODOLOGY

The Graphic Designer will need to work on/ to allocate the required team members to cover the mentioned tasks:

  • Creating a unified identity for a pamphlet, that includes the color codes of the project in addition to the branding of the donor and ABAAD and the project’s donors. Respective logos will be shared separately. This identity will be used on both English and Arabic versions of the released material.
  • Design of one pamphlet, dimensions: A4 recto verso, foldable into an A5 format – 4 PAGES
  • Adaptation in Arabic language of the same design
  • Selecting the visuals to illustrate for the design based on a brief to be provided by the team. The designer might need to revert to images available in Stocks library that would be relevant to the project, or to design specific illustrations.

 

The approval process of the developed design will be as follow:

  • Preparing design draft (2 options to be shared)
  • The designer will need to plan for a review of the drafts with the ABAAD Communications team’s feedback and clearance
  • Feedback and approval from ABAAD Management
  • Feedback and clearance from donor

 

  • Printing of the brochures:
    • 100 English
    • 400 Arabic
    • CMYK 4 colors laminated – glossy mat finishing
    • Paper quality: 120 gr

 

DURATION

The design of the pamphlet is expected to be completed by July 21st, 2022.

 

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

  • A final design of the pamphlet (English and Arabic versions) that is approved by ABAAD.
  • A unified identity for the project, to be used in these pamphlets and consequent designs
  • Two A5 recto verso files, printed
  • Original editable files (depending on the tool used)
  • Printed brochures

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Experience  

  • Proven track record in designing IEC materials.
  • Previous designs relating to GBV, youth and gender studies is advantageous
  • Previous experience in translating - kindly provide the contacts/ portfolio of the translator who will undergo this part of the job
  • Efficient in meeting commitments and observing deadlines

 

General competencies

  • Fluent in both oral and written English and Arabic;
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills;
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, and age sensitivity and adaptability;
  • High level planning, organizational and time management skills; and
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change, and to remain calm under pressure.

 

 

Qualifications

Post graduate degree/s in fields such as Graphic Design studies.
