I. INTRODUCTION
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 and had started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
LRI is currently planning to start the implementation of the “Supporting Livelihoods through Forestry-SLF” project with the World Food Programme (WFP) in several regions of Lebanon, with the overall objective of “Increasing the access of targeted vulnerable Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese people to employment and income through a participatory approach to a sustainable management of natural resources and enhanced climate adaptation practices”.
II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
LRI seeks a full-time Project Coordinator for the project for the period of Six months starting July 1st, 2022, till December 31, 2022. The Project Coordinator at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) will be responsible for the Beqaa and Baalbek-Hermel regions. S/he applies Project Coordinator principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely information to the Project Manager, and ensures following the correct procedures.
The Project Coordinator is expected to perform the below duties:
- Support in the development of a detailed implementation plan with timeline
- Track the implementation of the activities and report the progress in each cycle on daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Report all achievements, issues, accidents, etc. on site to the Project Manager
- Coordinate with the Field Officers on daily basis to ensure proper implementation of activities
- Conduct periodic site visits to check on work progress and work quality
- Develop PRs and RFPs and coordination with procurement team to make sure items are delivered on time
- Support the Project Manager in project-related tasks and coordinate with donors during project manager’s absence
- Conduct monitoring field visits to check on work progress and work quality & assist during high level visits
- Assist in the technical planning and provide technical guidance for the field team
- Assist in the technical trainings’ preparations and coordination
- Support with the sites mapping and update the KMZ files
III. REQUIREMENTS
The Project Coordinator should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- BA in Business Administration, Economics, or any related field. Environmental or agriculture background is a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in project coordination /field work
- Good knowledge in mapping, GIS, and remote sensing experience
- Experience working with Lebanese rural communities is a plus
- Experience in environmental issues
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel outside Beirut (mainly to Beqaa and Baalbek-Hermel regions)
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic
