Overview of FRH

Ruwad al Houkouk is a non-profit and apolitical NGO that aims at enhancing the human rights of vulnerable marginalized groups in Lebanon. The association’s target population is the refugees, stateless persons and migrant workers. Its main activities include legal services, produces policy papers and conduct advocacy activities.

Description

Ruwad alHoukouk FR is planning to start an ambitious change process in advocacy to make the association more known and more effective in reaching out and disseminating protection issues related to stateless persons’ rights by concentrating on disseminating of information, law reforms, and mobilization movements of local communities.

Objective:

To assist Ruwad alHoukouk FR Advocacy Team in meeting its objectives and activities. The nature of the support required will vary from day-to-day however, key responsibilities will typically include general day to day administrative and organizational tasks related to the different advocacy activities.

The role will also provide additional policy, advocacy and campaigns support, which will include background research, providing guidance and briefings, drafting summary policy position papers, coordinating, collating and posting blogs, videos, discussions and updates on the internal intranet an external partner websites and providing input to the design and implementation of various projects.

This position will report directly to the Advocacy Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:


1. Administrative and organizational tasks

Implement all the Advocacy team administrative tasks and monitoring and coordination of the implementation of the advocacy strategies. The tasks include:  

  • Provide logistical support for meetings, organizing bilateral meetings, public events, travel, and other conference logistics
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Ensure that Ruwad alHoukouk FR social media platforms are active and well maintained
  • Maintaining and updating Ruwad alHoukouk FR contact lists
  • Support the review and updating of advocacy strategies, action plans and mapping tools
  • Participation and note taking in Ruwad alHoukouk FR internal and external meetings
  • Organize and maintain the filing system for the events in hard copies and electronic as per the association’s rules and procedures.
  • Scanning and archiving advocacy researches and activities files.
  • Contribute to funding proposals, donor reporting and other material for donors
  • Drafting monthly activity achievement report.

2. Research
· Support the elaboration and production of evidence based publications (factsheets, briefing papers, case studies, reports…)

· Monitor Lebanon’s and global policy developments and the work of relevant stakeholders and networks related to specific policy areas
· Support drafting of Ruwad alHoukouk FR publications as relevant

  • Feed in external and internal communication channels (e.g. articles, Q&A, website, social media, staff meetings)
  • Contribute to updating presentations and training tools on advocacy
  • Support in drafting communication material, including articles, newsletters, posts for social media, global annual achievement reports

3. Other
· Assisting with the other tasks as agreed with the line manager

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences, Journalism, communications, or a related field
  • At least 4 years experience in policy, advocacy, research work on human rights issues, ideally, on legal status, legal identity, statelessness and refugees
  • Strong analytical skills and an attention to details
  • Excellent in work organization and administrative tasks
  • Good writing and communication skills in English, with strong synthesis skills, and good presentation techniques.
  • Strong computer literacy. Must be Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English, French is an asset
  • Has experience in archiving systems
  • Flexible and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  •  Efficient organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Dynamic and strongly motivated
  • Good interpersonal skills

Terms:

Location: The work is conducted mainly from the office (Badaro), but travel will be required for meetings, trainings and workshops.

Working Hours: Full time from 9am to 5pm (Saturdays, if needed)

Contract Duration: 5 months with the possibility of renewal
