Background:
The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations. CLDH’s programs include rehabilitation for victims of torture and families of enforced disappearances and legal aid for vulnerable groups.
In 2007, CLDH opened “Nassim Center”, a rehabilitation center for the victims of torture and families of the forcibly disappeared, which provides multi-disciplinary support and case management for victims of torture or families as per the Istanbul Protocol. Services include psychotherapy, physiotherapy, legal, social, and financial assistance to over 100 victims of torture every year.
In 2009, CLDH launched its legal aid program by which, currently, a team of 16 lawyers provides legal assistance and consultations to vulnerable groups; the team handles walk-in and in-prison cases all over 25 detention centers in Lebanon on a daily basis.
In February 2019, CLDH established a second office in Baalbek where CLDH social workers conduct weekly visits to Syrian refugees in ITSs to identify legal needs and refer them to lawyers for in-house legal consultations.
CLDH is looking for a Finance and Admin Assistant to look over the financial and administrative work of its office in Bekaa and assist the Finance Officer in Beirut
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Implement / Comply Financial Policies, Procedures and Regulations
● Bookkeep / Control all financial entries in the accounting system
● Verify and control all financial and relevant supporting documents
● Verify that all financial documents are compliant with the MOF and donor requirements
● Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
● Process payments and assist staff in their financial and administrative requests
● Prepare and control Cash and Bank reconciliations
● Verify all necessary documents, contracts, invoices, receipts to ensure that they are signed and approved by the authorized signatories/people.
● Prepare a weekly report for cash situation and submit it to the Finance Officer
● Maitin and proper and updated filing system
● Handle the logistics and admin work of the emergency response office
● Perform any other request from the Finance Officer
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of 2 years in a similar position
Knowledge of maintaining Financial internal controls
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
Knowledge of International Accounting Standards
Good communication skills and team player
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Organization and time management skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Fluency in Arabic, English and French languages
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting or other related fields.
Location:
The Finance and Admin Assistant is based in CLDH office in Baalbek, Bekaa with weekly visits to CLDH office in Zalka.
