Expression of interest application for Media Content Creation consultant

Background and context 

Diakonia is a Swedish faith-based development organization that works to change unfair structures that generate poverty, inequality, oppression and violence. The organization was founded in 1966 and is today rooted in two Christian denominations: the Swedish Alliance Mission and the Uniting Church in Sweden. Our vision and mission are based on theological reflection and the universality of human rights. Diakonia works with around 400 partner organizations (2021) and employs approximately 300 staff in 25 country offices and four regional offices in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the MENA (Middle East and Northern Africa) region and Sweden.

The Diakonia Lebanon office was established in 2010 and currently oversee programs implemented directly and with 10 local partners.

Diakonia Lebanon Office is looking for a consultant to conduct a Media Content Creation Training for one of its partners to support their overall Programs development.

Purpose and Objectives of the Media Content Creation Training  

The purpose of the Media Content Creation Training for Diakonia’s partner is:

• To conduct a 2-day training on the media content creation so that the partner will be able to translate key messages and ideas into video content
• To develop the training material
• How to tailor awareness-and advocacy messages to fit into different media platforms
• To conduct a case study, select randomly a video published on the partner’s website, or social media platform for content evaluation and share the recommendation for improvement as well

Approach and Methods to be used in the Media Content Creation training

The consultant is required to ensure

• The Content creation Process
• How to tailor the desired message and deliver it as media content
• How to create appealing content relevant to specific platforms
• How to specify the niche audience to be targeted through appropriate Media content

Deliverables

The consultant is expected to deliver:

1. Training materials to be reviewed and approved by Diakonia’s focal point
2. Prepare pre and post tests as applicable
3. Deliver the training as planned and coordinated with Diakonia’s focal point
4. Submit a final report with correspondent documents such as attendance sheet, points related to the training to follow up in case of any.  

Time schedule

The training will take place in August 2022. The final reports should be submitted 5 days after the training delivery.

The final documents shall be written in English and professionally proofread.

Required Competencies and Experiences

• 5+ years of experience in media content creation
• Experience in conducting media training
• Excellent Communication Skills and Flexibility
• Background in the media industry
• Experience in developing short videos

Roles and responsibilities

The consultant will report to the Diakonia Competence Development Officer, while the Country Director will have an advisory role in the process. The contact person should be consulted if any problems arise during the analysis process.

The service provider will arrange the logistics, booking interviews, preparing visits including any necessary security arrangements. Some assistance will be offered by the Diakonia country offices upon request.

Terms and conditions

The service provider is responsible for income tax and cost proposals should clearly indicate amounts pre and post taxes. Costs should include all in country travel.

The service provider is required to sign and follow Diakonia’s code of conduct.
