MAG is committed to implementing activities in line with international and national
standards, where internal and external resources will be deployed to reinforce our
collaboration with a National Mine Action Authority (NMAA). MAG works directly
towards supporting the capacity development of an NMAA, as well as bringing in
additional external expertise. This dual approach will enable the NMAA to become
more technically and organizationally independent, strengthening the delivery of the
national strategy, improving management capacity and strengthening the NMAAs
proficiency, and enhancing its status as a model for other mine action authorities.
More broadly, capacity development work will contribute to the development of a
complete strategy for mines and cluster munitions, and the development of a
residual risk management framework, a project MAG is implementing with the
NMAA through the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).
