OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITIONS:
In the framework of its emergency preparedness, HI is looking at identifying a pool of volunteers that are interested and motivated to work in emergency situations. Volunteers will be involved in the identification and the response to rehabilitation needs of people with injuries and disabilities during emergency situations.
- During Emergency preparedness:
The emergency volunteering members will have the following responsibilities:
- To participate in trainings conducted by HI and other specialized actors in the field of emergency preperdness
- To keep contact with HI or HI partner organizations and to particpate in meetings and refresher trainings on a Quarterly basis
- During an emergency response and post emergency:
- The volunteers should be committed to the humanitarian asisstance principles : Do no Harm, Persons’ best interest and Child Protection policy, that will be provided in trainings during the emergency prepardness phase
This will be monitored through HI monitoring visits.
The following responsibilities are shared among all the volunteers:
- Intergrate and implement safe identification of cases, basic assessment (need of basic services, medical needs, rehabilitation, etc.), referral and follow up as part of a comprehensive approach
- Document referrals and report them to the appointed team leader (who will be defined during emergency phase)
- Partipate in team meetings
- Awarness raising and dissemination of IEC materials (tailored to the context and needs)
- Identify the main challenges and difficluties faced by people with disability, vulnerable, injured, and isolated people, and report the most urgent needs
- Participate in the specialized technical trainings that HI will conduct according to the context and needs in order to improve the team member’s intervention quality with beneficiaries.
- Respect and implement the quality requirements adopted by HI while working with beneficiaries (training will be provided by HI team)
- Ensure the secrecy and privacy of the information shared by the beneficiaries at all times.
- Uphold the humanitarian principles in daily tasks including the informed consent of the beneficiaries.
- Ensure HI internal standards, guidelines, and policies including safeguarding are respected.
Main responsibilities of the volunteer team leader:
- Compile and share the referral data with HI/or partner organization acoording to the pre-set process with respect of confidentiality
Report to HI or HI partners using the monitoring tools and reporting forms on weekly/monthly basis.
- Physiotherapist (PT):
- According to the assigned location, the PT will be present to assess and provide physical therapy sessions and follow up to people with injury and people with disability and older persons
- Visit people with injury and people with disability and older persons in their homes or shelters who have registered their need to PT services for assessment and support purposes
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team members in setting up the intervention/therapy plan for people with injury and people with disability and older persons, when needed
- Assess the needs of assistive devices and items for specific needs, and report to HI or HI partner
- Provide assistive devices and items for specific needs based on the conducted assessment and action plan
- Train the user and caregiver on the use of the provided devices
- Document the assessmnet, action plans and sessions provided using HI tools
Requirments:
- Previous experience working with Non-governmental organizations in emergency or/and development context would be an asset
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Autonomy in work
- Ability to respect deadline and work under pressure
- Interested and motivated to work during crisis
- Basic Microsoft office and Internet use.
