Voluntary Counseling and Testing officer during outreach field visits

DESCRIPTION: 

Society for Inclusion and Development for Community, and Care for All (SIDC) initiated its work in 1987 (decree 9 / AD) with the aim of improving the social and health situation of the most vulnerable groups and defending their human rights, their right to health, social and mental health services as well as their right to work and live in dignity.

SIDC is seeking Voluntary Counselling and testing personnel (VCT) for the project "Empowering 130 Individuals from the LGBTQIA+ Community in Lebanon" funded by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with the overall objective of reducing the risk of gender-based violence (GBV) amongst individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community residing in Lebanon.
The VCT personnel will be operating during SIDC's field outreach sessions to fulfill the roles and responsibilities detailed below.

    1. Their role is to raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health and information about SIDC services for people who get tested
    2. Conduct pre-counseling and post-counseling sessions for the people who benefit from the testing service in the mobile unit.
    3. Conduct rapid HIV, HBV, HCV and SYPHILLIS testing in the mobile unit, in the afternoon hours.
    4. Refer individuals to available sexual health services at the sexual health clinic and the harm reduction center such as STIs consultations, other STI testing, MH service, HIV and OST treatments, social follow ups and consultations etc.
    5. Report to the project coordinators with any and all data and challenges.
    6. Work collaboratively with the peer educators and outreach coordinator
    7. Conduct material inventory prior and after each outreach session
    8. Cooperate with the outreach coordinator to request tests, alcohol swab, gloves, face masks and other VCT related material.
    9. Attend regular outreach meetings
    10. Regularly fill out data entry templates and report data on specific platforms.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Has a bachelor degree in nursing, lab-technician or social work or other relevant fields
  • Previous experience working in HIV/AIDS programs.
  • Attended the VCT training with the National Aids program is a plus.
