Senior Communication & Documentation Officer

The Senior Communication and Documentation officer plays a key role in promoting the organization by creating and managing informative content, press releases, and media opportunities to share the organization’s message and products. He/she is responsible for creating communication and media strategies that best reflect the origination’s mission, vision, and values. He/she is also required to assemble these strategies by converting them into visualized photos and videos for external and internal purposes.

 

Detailed Job Description

Develop, create, and implement effective communication and marketing strategies for current and new programs while remaining within the acquired budget range.

Write, edit, and release content on social media platforms, website, annual reports, and application that communicates the organization’s ongoing activities and programs.

Develop or commission market research as needed.

Collaborate and brainstorm with the communication team for new ideas and strategies on a weekly basis.

Perform as the PR and marketing member of the organization and coordinate budgets, deadlines, objectives, and schedules and act as a spoke’s person for the organization. 

Plan, create, and oversee the design, content, and production of marketing materials.

Develop high-quality content for social media, websites, application, newsletters, press releases, press kits, and any other distribution channels.

Capture and manipulate high quality still photos and video footage using modern editing techniques. 

Trim footage segments and combine the sequences of the film and put together the whole project.

Insert and input dialog, sound effects, music, graphics, and special effects to assure more appealing visuals. 

Ensure that the final products are appropriate for broadcasting in terms of audio and visual elements.

Consult the executive director throughout the implementation of the project.

Coordinate with all departments to make sure internal communication is clear and smooth.

Ensure all messaging aligns with key business strategies.

Identify media and press opportunities.

Create presentations, articles, reports, and information for internal use and presents them to donors and stakeholders. 

Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual media activity reports.

Attend training and workshops related to the project when requested by the Project Manager. 

Perform any additional tasks, when requested by the Executive Director. 

 

Reports to: Executive Director, Head of strategic development & communication. 

Supervisory Responsibility: Digital media consultant

Collaborates and Works with: HR, Department Heads, Project Managers, Procurement, MEAL, and field officers.

 

Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, advertising, or related field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a communications role, PR, or related field.

Proven experience as a video editor.

Experience with technologies and best practices for campaigns across multiple platforms.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong content creation skills.

Creative and artistic skills.

Ability to multitask and monitor several projects and accounts on a daily basis.

Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and presents “outside-the-box” ideas for social media platforms.

Ability to translate ideas into visual contents.

Excellent knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop)

Proficient knowledge in “social media platforms” and “content management systems”.

Knowledge of video and picture editing software such as Adobe, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, and Premier.

Excellent media relations skills.

Ability to work independently or in a team.

Demonstrate excellent English and Arabic oral and written communication skills.
