UNWFP - Software Developer, Digital Assistance Services SC6, Beirut

 

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

Under the direct supervision of the Senior solution developer, the Software Developer will perform the following tasks:

  • Support technical and architectural decisions to ensure that the product is delivered efficiently and with clearly explained technical rationale
  • Develop and deliver high-quality code, under the supervision of the lead developer
  • Build detailed project plants and timelines, including deliverables and milestones
  • Create the easy-to-read documentation of end-users as well as for support hand-over
  • Customize, implement, and validate corporate solutions for the Lebanon office
  • Engage with business users on their needs to document and implement change requests and resolve issues
  • Provide 1st level support and problem analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of WFP standard Digital Assistance Services (DAS) application problems for end-users, implementing corrective solutions or escalation to appropriate persons as required
  • Regularly monitors and following up on all pending tickets and issues registered with Digital Assistance Tools and working with the different teams/ service desk or support staff for resolution and closure 
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and the delivery of trainings on WFP standard Digital Assistance Services (DAS). Provide trainings and on job coaching to WFP focal points, cooperating partners, retailers FSPs and other stakeholders
  • Support DAS lead and developers with end-user engagement, e.g., requirement gathering, process mapping, meeting scheduling and follow-up
  • If applicable, support the DAS and IT infrastructure team with DevOps
  • Perform any other task as required

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Secondary School Education. University degree in Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology is a plus

Experience: Minimum five (5) years in general iT experience with at least two (2) years of professional experience in Software or Web Development

Languages: Fluency in both written and oral communication in English and Arabic

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Technical Skills Required:

  • Good working experience in Python or PHP
  • Good experience in using Django or Laravel Frameworks
  • A good understanding of REST API fundamental
  • Good Knowledge in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (or TypeScript)
  • Good Experience with ReactJS
  • Good understanding of code versioning tools (such as git)
  • Familiarity with Planning and Collaboration tools (such as Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with design and architectural patterns

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact
  • Mature judgment with effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels
