Principal Responsibilities
To make positive links with leaders and other key community members in order to aid the implementation of efficient and effective MAG operations
Community Liaison
Community Liaison in support of clearance activities – visiting the communities before, during and after clearance.
Collect and regularly update beneficiary and land use data for clearance tasks.
Collection of case studies to demonstrate the impact of MAG work or to show the problems caused by Mines/ UXOs.
Collecting Pre and Post-clearance impact assessment data in communities.
Gathering information due to the clearance needs (Pre and during Clearance).
Any other support in dealing with communities required by operations department.
Non-Technical Survey
Visiting communities to liaise with leaders and other key people to collect data (using interviews, meetings, observation, cross checking, mapping and photographs) for non-technical survey and pre-clearance prioritisation purposes
Completion of MAG NTS forms in Arabic or English
Development of accurate and professional maps.
Mine Risk Education (MRE)
Deliver Mine Risk Education to develop awareness about mines and UXO amongst target groups using agreed methodologies.
Complete accurate and timely MRE activity reports.
GENERAL
All MAG staff is expected to undertake the following general responsibilities:
- Work towards achieving departmental business plan objectives.
- Work within the framework of MAG’s core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
- Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organization.
- Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all MAG policies and procedures and Safeguarding framework.
- Ensure confidentiality of information as required by MAG policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
- Aware of gender mainstreaming and ready to participate in gender awareness courses/training
- Able to work in a mixed team
- Responsible for his/her own continuing training to develop his/her skills
- Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
