The Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon” aims to devise a national roadmap toward establishing solid foundations from which to facilitate the development of a comprehensive SEL policy for Lebanon; policies in SEL will ensure a systematic integration and institutionalization of an SEL culture into both formal and non-formal educational system.
World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “SEL Research Program Officer” for the Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon”. This position is for a Lebanese national.
Scope and Responsibilities
S/he will be responsible primarily for the research component of this program:
o Attending meetings and documenting process and progress
o Coordinating with the internal team on scheduling, connecting, and communicating with policy and technical working groups.
o Participating in the literature review to map existing research on SEL and related fields in the region.
o Preparing the training material for focus group discussions and coaching implementation.
o Responsible for the data collection and data analysis
o Drafting final reports and making short- and long-term recommendations
o Represent World Learning at working groups, and meetings when needed
o Other responsibilities as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
o Minimum of a BA/BS in education, social sciences, relevant field
o A minimum of 3 years working in the field
o Skilled researcher in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
o Excellent analysis, reporting, and M&E skills and experience evaluating knowledge acquisition and learning from workshops
o Deep knowledge of the SEL field and policy development in education
o Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across both the private and public sector
o Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
Duration of the Assignment
Full-time employment for 4 months with possibilities of renewal
