Background

The Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon” aims to devise a national roadmap toward establishing solid foundations from which to facilitate the development of a comprehensive SEL policy for Lebanon; policies in SEL will ensure a systematic integration and institutionalization of an SEL culture into both formal and non-formal educational system.

 

World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “Project Manager” for the Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon”. This position is for a Lebanese national.

 

Scope and Responsibilities

S/he will be responsible for coordinating, overlooking, and ensuring day-to-day smooth implementation of project activities and adherence to logistics and administration at the central and regional levels. His/ her responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that project deliverables are submitted on time within scope and within budget
  • Develop a detailed timeline to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, and project schedule
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project reporting and documentation
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Identify stakeholders and set up a mechanism of engagement, coordination, and collaboration, including steering committees or working groups, to start a national dialogue focused on more sustainable SEL and PSS approaches
  • Manage relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Draft focus group discussion and interview questions, surveys, and data collection protocols
  • Conduct desk reviews and mapping of existing PSS, Life Skills, SEL, and other related programs/frameworks implemented in Lebanon,
  • Conduct focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and in-depth interviews to validate findings from desk review and investigate additional areas of inquiry.
  • Attend weekly meetings with management to update on project progress, challenges, and solutions
  • Attend conferences and training as required
    • Represent World Learning at working groups, and meetings
    • Other responsibilities as necessary.
 

 

 Required Qualifications:
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • A minimum of an MA Degree in the appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in policy development
  • Good knowledge in contextually relevant educational policies and policies in relevant fields
  • Solid background in the field of social and emotional learning/psychosocial support/child protection

 

Duration of the Assignment

Full-time employment for 4 months with possibilities of renewal
