Psychiatrist Consultant - Syria

The Psychiatrist will give 2 trainings in October or November to 2 groups of doctors in Aleppo, each group 15 participants for 6 days. He or she will have to follow up with supervision sessions to these Drs, 40 sessions during the whole year, until September 2023. The training and supervision will take place in Aleppo. (Inside the PHCs)     

Job description:

  • Document the relevant data by filling out an assessment or follow-up form for each trained doctor.
  • Coordinate with Dorcas’s MHPSS Coordinator when necessary and share relevant information concerning the trainings.
  • Conduct on the job supervision observation for trainees.
  • Ability to train 2 groups of 15 doctors each on MH GAP
  • Provide support and supervision following the MH GAP training for the trainees.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with doctors
  • The Psychiatrist will report to the Mental Health Technical Coordinator of Dorcas.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Licensed psychiatrist;
  • 3 to 5 years' experience, preferably in a large local or international INGO, in humanitarian aid and MHPSS;
  • Has a strong command of Arabic in speech and writing;
  • Fluent in English, especially in writing;
  • Planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills;
  • The ability to create and implement a training plan;
  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • The ability to supervise, follow-up, and report;
  • Good time management and task management skills;
  • Strong diplomatic skills, sensitivity to cultural differences, and security awareness;
