- Background
The “Step-by-Step” intervention is an innovative approach to treatment for depression using a five session internet-delivered self-help intervention for adults experiencing common mental health issues. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Mental Health Programme at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) tested its feasibility and effectiveness through a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) in Lebanon and now it is in the first phase of scale-up to become a widely available service. People interested in this program can access Step-by-Step through their own device (app or web-browser). “Step by Step” users will receive technical and motivational support each week from e-helpers, who are non-specialists, trained to provide basic support to users.
- Tasks & Responsibilities:
- To support participants completing the “Step-by-step” intervention:
- To provide general motivation and support to participants through the 5-8 week online programme over the phone or using online messaging system in line with a written protocol (an average of 15min once per week with each participant over 5 to 8 weeks)
- To support participants experiencing technical difficulties with using the site or registering
- To identify and report concerns about participant safety to the clinical supervisor
- To manage administrative components related to the work
- To document case notes for contact with participants using the “Step-by-step” e-helper interface
- To assist with procedures around site access in case participants have log-in problems
- To attend trainings for the position as required for the duration of the contract
- To attend weekly e-helper supervision meetings with the clinical supervisor to discuss cases and with the project team whenever needed
- To perform other related duties as assigned by the project coordinator
- To fill out timesheets and progress reports to be shared on a weekly or monthly basis with the project coordinator
- To comply with project confidentiality procedures at all times
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in psychology, nursing, social work, health or public health (essential)
- Previous experience in providing psychosocial or emotional support (desirable)
- Mature, friendly, and culturally sensitive personality with excellent communication skills (essential)
- Fluent in Arabic and working proficiency in English (essential)
- Confident in using computers (essential)
- Ability to work under pressure (essential)
