PSS Officer - Tripoli

The Part-time PSS officer will be responsible for implementing Psychosocial Support activities with the children and adults in the targeted areas.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Develop protection session plan and conduct psychosocial and awareness activities at the community level
  • Identify protection concerns and provide psychological support to cases of concern.
  • Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right
  • Conduct discussion groups, focus groups at the community level.
  • Hold a monthly meeting with the field staff and Program Coordinators to follow up on the beneficiaries’ status and psychosocial intervention.
  • Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the Health Officer
  • Assist in organizing protection events for the beneficiaries.
  • Build the capacity of the field staff on psychological issues, when necessary.
  • Attend the Protection working groups
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
  • Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions (Child protection, Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), art therapy etc...)
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field, with frequent visits to IOCC office.
