Job Announcement:

Terre des hommes - Foundation (Lausanne) is seeking 10 qualified Community Volunteers based in South to work in Palestinian Camps in Borj Shemali.

In local context, the Community Volunteer will be responsible for the provision of community-based PSS activities. 

Community Volunteers will receive and participate in specific capacity building program:

  1. Training session/s on PSS and safe identification and referral,
  2. On job training (OJT) through their participation in the PSS activities implemented in the centres or in the Mobile Unit.

The volunteers are required to have the following skills:

  • The ability to visualize things in three dimensions
  • Handmade creations and Art as well as craft
  • Good communication skills to explain the ideas clearly and persuasively
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • Follow through the CSP and PSEA ethical obligations

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Community Volunteers will deliver a structured community based focused PSS activities in the community settings:

  • To keep the balance between social, mental and physical activities for children and adolescents.
  • To ensure that the beneficiaries have the possibility to participate in the activity, to express themselves and to be heard.
  • To ensure that the beneficiaries are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender-based groups.
  • To identify and refer children in needs of specific services.
  • To frequently participate in the local Child Protection Community Committee.
  • To comply with the TDH IT Code of Conduct.
  • Any other task relevant to the position.

Location/Travel: Borj Shemali Camp in the South

                                                   Community Volunteer for Tdh Lebanon

Project:  Improved protection environment for Lebanese and Palestinian girls and women exposed to Gender Based Violence in Tyre.

Institutional mechanisms and policies strengthened for improving the legal status of women and girls, eliminating gender-based violence and promoting gender equality.

Expected Programme Output(s)

 

Strengthened engagement and capacities of government institutions – national and local – and civil society institutions to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, empowerment of women, and prevention of gender-based violence, including in humanitarian settings.

- Provision of recreational activities inside the WGSS

- Outreach and awareness raising activities

Budget line:

6 Support 100% of the incentives of the 6 Outreach Community Volunteers (Trained and skilled volunteers) to provide community-based PSS, recreational, life skills activities in the WGSS (100%, 7 months x 6 volunteers). The budget covers 100% of the 6 volunteers’ incentives for 7 months (100$/month for 6 volunteers).

4 Outreach Community Volunteers (Trained and skilled volunteers) to provide awareness raising and community engagement 2 activities. The budget covers 100% of the Programme incentives of volunteers for 7 months.  (100%, 4 volunteers X 100 USD X 7 months).

Purpose:

  1. Scope of work

The Volunteers (10 volunteers) will be responsible to conduct life and soft skills, structure PSS and awareness sessions in safe spaces and Palestinian camp within UNFPA project through:

Implementing the sessions based on agreed upon with the project team. The volunteer will be able to outreach and assist the girls and women acquire the skills theoretically and support them in the practical work. The volunteers are required to have the following skills:

  • The ability to visualize things in three dimensions
  • Handmade creations (accessories)
  • Good communication skills to explain the ideas clearly and persuasively
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • Follow through the CSP and PSEA ethical obligations
  1. Expected Deliverables/Plan and Timeframe:

At the end of the sessions the participants shall be able to identify all skills tips.

The volunteers shall provide the skills workshops to 15-30 adolescent girls and to the community members in Bourj Chemali Camp.

Learning shall be provided in 6 sessions; each session includes 15-20 girls. Each group is expected to receive 6 sessions over 1.5 months (one session per week). A total of 12 hours per group, 2 hours per session.

Activity locations: Al Shifa medical center, Al Jinan KG and Diarona center and Mobile unit/ safe space.

The volunteers shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Sessions Cycle Syllabus and timetable and timesheet
  • Submit time sheet and attendance
  • Provide feedback on the session and participants
  1. Terms of Payment:
  • Rate per session for incentives and transportation: $10
  • The payment will be made by envelop or and Money Transfer through OMT. A timesheet will be submitted by the volunteers to the GBV team leader on a monthly basis.
  • Mandatory induction trainings are done at the beginning of the recruitment. The time spent during the sessions will be paid.
  1. Period of ToR:  15th of October 2022 until 28 Feb 2023.
  2. Reporting: The provider of services shall report to the TDH management.
