Protection Assistant (Tripoli) - G4

Under the overall supervision of Head of Programmes in Lebanon and the direct supervision of the Protection Program Manager. The protection assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of protection activities, including case management, and outreach activities in the North and Akkar Conduct field visits to monitor ongoing protection activities.
  2. Support in the provision and referrals of in-country assistance including psycho-social services, mental health, accommodation, food, legal assistance, in coordination with internal and external parties.
  3. Support the administrative coordination of protection activities and their implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
  4. Liaison with external stakeholder and represent IOM at relevant meeting in coordination with the Protection program manager
  5. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific protection topics. Draft status reports on protection activities, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
  6. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other forms of documentation on specific protection issues.
  7. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel; knowledge of other applications such as, PowerPoint will be helpful.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under time constraints, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Team player: ability to work effectively with different levels within and outside the organization and with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds

Experience Details:

 

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations. 
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and, 
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of Lebanese migration context, challenges faced by migrants, protection gaps and responses implemented by UN and NGOs, Community-based initiatives.

• School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
• Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
