RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment
- Undertake technical shelter condition assessments, preparing all necessary paperwork.
- Conduct daily field visits in order to collect data from the tents in ISs using Field Maps and 123 Survey.
- Generate code for every structure in the ISs based on their sequence, status, structure type and conditions.
- Sketch and draw plans for the shelter units and IS as needed using AutoCAD software.
- Maintain and update a data base for each case (including individual and HH details if needed).
- Perform data collection and processing activities, using smart phone technology.
Design and Implementation
- Prepare a complete Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for each shelter unit and IS technically evaluated on the field with the definition of items, describing the specifications, the quantity and the quality of materials required (including workers fees, machines renting, transportation fees, other).
- Daily visit to shelter units assessing the quality and quantity of the work done by the contractor (very good knowledge of materials, specification and prices)
- Ensure quality assurance of material specification and selection and robustness in design and construction, in compliance with the SSB Guidelines and catalogue.
- Assist Shelter officer in scheduling Site improvement activities.
- Assist design and facilitate site improvement (SI) activities.
- Supervise daily workers from the community.
- Take deliveries of materials and equipment
Communication
- Liaise with local communities on site, in coordination with the Community Officer.
- Coordinate and communicate data collection with field data collectors.
- Ensure that any issues in project implementation are communicated to the Shelter PM, for quick follow up and resolution.
- Ensure good quality workmanship, through clear explanation of the intervention to the Communities on site.
Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities e.g. through daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Ensure all paper work is accurate and correctly stored.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- University degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or similar field
- Minimum 1 year Post-qualification professional or practical experience. Management experience in a construction context.
Good working knowledge of geography and culture of the Bekaa Valley region, Knowledge of SSB and SI standards.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS
- Strong working knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written)
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Enjoys a challenge and works hard to achieve objectives
