Grants Manager

Responsibility 1: Fundraising

  • Search and assess available funding opportunities
  • Work closely with the team to design, write, and submit competitive funding proposals that are responsive to donor guidelines and requirements, and in line with AFH program strategies and policies.
  • Lead on the implementation of the organization’s fundraising strategy, in close collaboration with AFH director.
  • Support the organization of fundraising events and campaigns
  • Represent AFH in public forums (cluster meetings, international conferences, donor events, funding competitions) when needed to increase the organization’s visibility.
  • Support the training and capacity building to AFH staff on proposal development and reporting.

 Responsibility 2: Grants Management

  • Establish grants management systems and ensure that AFH staff are aware of the contractual programmatic and financial requirements of donors, including deadlines and deliverables.
  • Create, maintain and follow up on M&E tools to generate donor and internal reports
  • Lead or support the preparation and submission of program reports to donors and other stakeholders, in coordination with AFH staff.
  • Ensure comprehensive grant files are maintained up to date and are available for use by key staff.
  • Support the training and capacity building to AFH staff on grants management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, making positive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent English language writing and editing skills
  • Excellent desk research skills and ability to analyze and synthesize information.
  • Proven experience in writing detailed project plans and proposals is required.  Experience in sophisticated grant applications such as the EU applications is desirable.
  • Comfortable leading on their own work and working alone.
  • Very good organizational and time management skills, proactive, self-motivated.
  • Extremely organized and reliable.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
