Project Manager - Beirut

Job responsibilities / skills

The Project Manager is part of the Programme Department reporting to the Programme Implementation Manager.

Result areas

Monitoring implementation

• Ensures that there is an implementation plan in place, that guides all staff involved in a project;

• Supports partners to implemented projects in accordance with the proposed activities in the project plan;

• Ensures that the War Child core principles are integrated into all project activities;

• Ensures that the project team communicates effectively with the children and communities that are stakeholders in the project;

• Ensures the use of the WCH tools and formats for planning and monitoring unless it is agreed that other tools and formats will be used,

Result: the project is monitored in such a manner that all issues are discussed and all concerns are reported.

Coordinating and representing WCH

• Represents WCH Lebanon in working groups and other coordination platforms as agreed with the Programme Implementation Manager;

• Coordinates with the operations department to ensure all operational activities are performed;

• Regularly communicates and coordinates with all partners in the field;

• Provides the partners with competency building support and organizational capacity building support;

• Coordinates skill building and conferences as necessary;

• Liaises with professional counterparts of (inter)national authorities and organizations;

 

Result: Coordination with various groups are conducted in such a way that requests are answered Child Safety and Protection and concerns are reported.

Handling Management and Administration activities

• Manages, supports, coaches and builds competency of staff;

• Conducts performance appraisals of the his/her direct staff as per the WCH Performance & Development system;

• Ensures that internal and external (donor) reports are submitted on time and are of high quality;

• Controls the budget and ensures proper expenditure of each budget line, in coordination with the finance department;

 

Result: management and administration of activities are handled in such a way that budget expenditures are controlled and reports are delivered on time.

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

Degree in social sciences or a related field;

At least 2 years of relevant employment experience; 

Experience in Project management is a must 

Experience in managing projects focusing on child protection / psychosocial support / education (institutional funding and private foundation preferred);

Previous experience working with children/refuges/vulnerable populations;

Previous experience with community-based programming preferred;

Demonstrated experience of managing people;

Demonstrated experience of managing budgets;

Knowledge and experience with monitoring systems;

 

Skills and Competencies

 

Strong communication skills;

Fluency in Arabic;

Strong spoken and written English skills, including demonstrated reporting ability;

Demonstrated people management skills;

Demonstrated financial management skills;
